4 Chiropractic Tips Teachers and Others Should Try

Teaching isn’t just a stressful job but also a painful one. Anyone who has to stand on their feet for hours on end most likely experiences severe discomfort throughout the day. Retail workers, chefs, groundskeepers, and people in other professions that require long periods of standing know all too well about the struggle to stay pain-free. Have Back-Friendly Equipment
Anyone who requires the use of a desk should have one that adjusts according to height. That way, it can be heightened or lowered depending on where the person needs it at the time. This is especially important for teachers who tend to use a desk frequently throughout the day.
Keep Supplies Within Reach
Bending down to reach supplies near the floor on the very bottom shelf of a cabinet, cupboard, or elsewhere can have painful consequences. On the other hand, having supplies located high up that requires reaching isn’t ideal either. Supplies, utensils, equipment, or anything else required for the job should always be kept within reach. No reaching, crouching, or twisting should have to be performed to get to them.
Take Regular Breaks That Involve Movement
If a person’s job requires them to stand for long periods, then breaks should involve movement. Instead of simply going and sitting down in the teacher’s lounge or break room, teachers and other employees should do some stretches or take a quick walk around the premises. Keeping the body moving and flexible is key in preventing injuries. A few minutes to move followed by a few minutes of rest can be extremely beneficial for the body.
Wear Supportive Shoes
The right shoes can go a long way toward making the day more comfortable. Standing on your feet all day can be hard on multiple areas of the body, from the feet to the back. Supportive shoes while teaching or performing other job duties while standing are extremely important. Cushioned insoles will help tremendously, but flats and high heels should never be worn.
Stressful jobs that also require a lot of standing, such as teaching, can be quite hard on the body.
