Chiropractic Advice for Better Sleep
By Brandi Goodman
A good night's rest can go a long way toward improving your attitude for the day. Many people struggle to sleep at night, leaving them susceptible to stress, health issues, and more. Following advice from a chiropractor can help ensure you achieve better sleep nightly so you can wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day.
Get a New Mattress
A new mattress can do wonders for your back. If you've had your old mattress for more than five years and you notice you've had a decrease in the amount of sleep you get lately, it may be time for a change. Some people keep their mattresses for 10 years or longer. This should never happen. Mattresses wear out a great deal over time and will not provide adequate support for your spine by this point.
Invest in a Chiropractic Pillow
Chiropractic pillows exist. They offer additional padding for the neck and have a curved shape that forms better around your head. You should give this a try if you tend to experience pain in your neck or shoulders while you sleep. A flat pillow may not be giving you the support and comfort you need to fall asleep easily without pain.
Exercise
Exercise should be on everyone's daily to-do list. However, many people fail to get in any exercise time at all. If you find yourself having trouble sleeping and realize you never found time for fitness in your day, be sure to add it to the schedule the next day and thereafter. It can reduce your symptoms of depression and anxiety, which are common reasons for being kept up at night with the mind racing.
Wind Down Without Lights
Making it a habit to wind down at least an hour before bed can make it easier to fall asleep. There should be limited light at this time since bright lights and even blue light from a cell phone or other device can keep you awake. Light a candle or keep the lights dim while you read or relax.
Keep this advice in mind when you find yourself unable to sleep at night. You should also visit the Joint Chiropractic to see what the doctor suggests. He may have some additional advice. The adjustment should also prove beneficial, leaving you without joint restrictions that can make it uncomfortable to sleep at night.
