Why Exercise and Healthy Eating Work Well Together
By Sabine Dorothy Docteur
A healthy lifestyle mostly consists of a combination of things. There is one combination that we know works well and when it comes to this, we know that if it isn't broken, there is no need to fix it. Exercise and a healthy diet work well together because they support one another to boost us to a life full of health and wellness. We must understand that every piece of this combination requires a conscious choice that we must make on a daily basis. These are also areas in which we have the most control. There are so many benefits to combining these two options and we will see why they work.
Prevents Diseases
When both physical activity and a healthy diet are combined, the body is assisted in its fight against diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease and depression. Diet and exercise can help the body's immune system fight against unexpected attackers as well, by giving it the proper tools to defend itself. Getting the proper nutrition and the physical activity to match will complement the body's ability to remain healthy.
Boosts Energy and Mood
We all know the fact that exercise gives an undeniable feeling that we call adrenaline rush. The rush can be felt during or immediately after exercising. Runners, often, experience this. I know, personally, there is always a genuine uplift of my mood after a great cardio session. The effects do not end there. Both a healthy diet and exercise can help increase your endorphins, which will contribute to those happy and positive feelings afterward. Healthy eating and exercise can help reduce stress, increase self-esteem, and prevent depression.
Improves Sleep
A good night's sleep does wonders to our moods. Adequate number of hours of sleep varies from person to person. But, when we get those optimum hours for ourselves, we can feel like we are on top of the world. The right amount of sleep helps us to be productive and in a better mood generally throughout the day. A lifestyle that combines exercise and healthy diet can influence our sleep habits positively. Physical activity at night is not recommended because it can keep us up if we exercise too late. This is because the body is still on the go and reaping the physical benefits of that workout session.
On the road to better health, exercise and a nutritious diet should be your vehicle to success. The combination of those two, when done properly, can only bring tremendous benefits such as disease prevention, increased mental wellness and better sleep.
