3 Steps to Quick Weight Loss
By Stephen R. Farris
Ladies and gentlemen, it's not too early to start thinking about the summer and getting fit to sport those new swimsuits at the beach or lake. But if you have more than a few extra pounds to lose, and you're thinking that there's no way you'll ever get trimmed down in time for this season, then think again.
It's not a miracle cure or anything of that nature, but simply following three simple steps that can help you start shedding the pounds quickly. And it even includes a cheat day! These three steps can help reduce your appetite, drop the pounds without feeling hungry, and could boost your metabolism. The steps are supported by scientific studies as well.
Step One
To start, cut back on the amount of sugars and starchy foods, such as sodas, candy, cake and ice cream or anything that has high sugar content. Reducing the intake of these carbs will push your body to burn stored fat instead.
Step Two
Include foods with protein, healthy fats and add to the mix, fresh vegetables, such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, spinach, tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce and cauliflower to name just a few. Don't forget to switch out your cooking oils for these; avocado oil, coconut oil, olive oil and butter. Real butter, that is, and not processed products, for instance, margarine.
Step Three
You knew it was coming: exercise! Except in this case, you should lift weights at least three times a week. Not only will this help burn calories, but it will also keep your metabolism from getting sluggish. You might even add some aerobic exercise to complement this routine, such as walking, swimming and/or cycling.
And Finally, Cheat Day!
The goal is not to go too overboard with cheat day, however, you are allowed to carb it up just a little by eating foods such as rice, potatoes, oats and fresh fruits. But you're only allowed one day out of the week to do this. Most folks prefer a weekend day, for instance, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Just remember, only one day and one day only are you allowed to cheat on your diet.
