Dr. Mike Crone joined The Joint Chiropractic in 2015 and became the clinic director for the new Heights and Yale at 21st location in October 2018. A product of Nicholls State University in Louisiana, where he received this bachelor’s degree in science, Dr. Crone received his doctorate from Texas Chiropractic College.
“The thing I like best about being in the chiropractic field is using my hands and my knowledge to help people live healthier and pain-free lives, and improving their quality of life,” Dr. Crone says. “I love educating patients on how to better take care of their bodies while continually learning new ways to be healthier, which allows me to continue to provide the best care for my patients.”
He has worked previously in Pearland, as well as Houston, and lives with his wife and two schnauzers, Lizzie and Oliver. In his spare time, Dr. Crone likes cooking, working out, and playing soccer. He also enjoys listening to music, collecting old records, and watching movies.
“I grew up playing sports and staying very active,” Dr. Crone said. “I knew I wanted to go to school for something that would allow me to help others, so I started thinking about medical school. When it came time to start thinking more specifically about what I wanted to do, I knew it was more than just writing prescriptions all day. I really liked the idea of being able to use my hands and my knowledge of the human body to actually help people achieve their goals and lead healthier lives. I enjoy connecting with people and actually making an impact on their health and their lives.”
Working at The Joint provides a great opportunity for Dr. Crone to fulfill that mission.
“I enjoy working for The Joint because it allows me to be in a setting where I can provide efficient care to a large patient base,” he says. “I am really excited to be here in the Heights, which is such a great and vibrant part of the city and full of wonderful people. Being a new part of such an old neighborhood full of history and people who have lived around here a long time is very exciting. And being here from the beginning of this new clinic allows me to connect with this community and these patients to grow our reach and help as many people as possible.
“One of my favorite things in this profession, besides getting people out of pain, is when patients bring in their family and friends to see me. It is such a rewarding feeling that they trust me enough to take care of people they care about.”

Dr. Crone is a connoisseur of local craft beer. “Ever since moving to Houston I have enjoyed learning about the world of craft beer and love hunting for special and limited releases,” he says. “There are so many different breweries and styles to try, and I really enjoy introducing people to new beers and all the breweries around town. My go-to in the fridge lately would be Saint Arnold’s Art Car IPA, but over my time in Houston, I would estimate that I have tried at least 800 different beers.”
One of the more amazing experiences in Dr. Crone’s life was a two-week trip to Costa Rica that he took while an undergraduate student.
“Every few days we would travel to different regions of the country and stayed in mostly remote areas,” he says. “We got to see so much of the wildlife while doing things like taking a river tour through forests filled with howler monkeys, seeing the sea turtles hatch on the beach, hiking a volcano, horseback riding, ziplining, river rafting, volcanic mud baths, and interacting with all the local people. It was fun being a tourist in a country that prides itself on its hospitality and tourist industry, but it was also amazing to see all the nature and wildlife while learning about the amazing culture.”
Dr. Robert Soliz began working for The Joint Chiropractic in 2019 when he joined The Heights clinic. A graduate of Southern Methodist University, he earned his bachelor of arts in Spanish with a minor in psychology. He received his doctorate from Texas Chiropractic College.
“One of the things I really love about being in chiropractic is being able to make a difference and change people’s lives,” he says. “It’s gratifying to educate people about the benefits of chiropractic.”
In his spare time, Dr. Soliz enjoys hunting and fishing, traveling, and teaching martial arts. He also spends time with his cat, Trigger.
He says he knew chiropractic was his calling after engaging with a patient early in his career.
“I had recently started practicing,” he recalls. “I had a patient in my office who had been suffering with debilitating headaches for years. She was at the point where she was about to quit working because she could not function. She had been to several other doctors who could not give her any answers. She was in tears as she told me her story. After treating her for two weeks, her headaches had completely resolved. She was able to keep working and ultimately she got a promotion. It was then that I knew I was doing what I was meant to do.”
Dr. Soliz says he loves being the local chiropractor for The Heights because “The Joint provides a relaxed environment for patients, which makes it ideal to treat and educate them on the benefit of chiropractic.”

Dr. Soliz says the one thing he always has in his refrigerator is Original New York Seltzer water.
If he could gather together four people from history for his dream dinner party, he would bring together a varied group:
● “Bruce Lee, who has always been my martial arts idol, and I’d love to hear his philosophy on things.”
● “Steve Irwin, who embodied some of the best characteristics that any person ever could; he had an intoxicating zest for life, the embodiment of fulfilling a passion and purpose in life, and a love for nature.”
● “Dr. Peter Piot who, with his colleagues, first discovered Ebola in 1976 and then later became instrumental in AIDS research. It would be fascinating to hear his experiences.”
● “President James Madison, who wrote the first 10 amendments to the Constitution that became our Bill of Rights, which is part of one of the most iconic documents ever written.”
He says the coolest thing that he’s ever done was earn a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: “Though it is becoming more popular, still very few people -- about 1 percent -- ultimately reach this level.”
Dr. Keith Turley joined The Joint Chiropractic family of local healthcare providers in 2012. A graduate of Texas A&M who earned a master of science in agricultural economics, he received his doctorate of chiropractic from Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena.
“The thing I appreciate most about being in the chiropractic field is helping people be healthy through chiropractic care,” he says. “I love helping them learn about the body.”
Dr. Turley worked previously in San Antonio and Boerne before settling in Houston, where he works at different locations.
He and wife Janis have two sons, four daughters, and a dachshund/pitbull mix. In his spare time, Dr. Turley enjoys time with his family and church activities.
He knew chiropractic was his calling when he learned a very basic premise of health. “Anything can cause anything,” he says, and as a chiropractor, he was uniquely qualified to address health issues at the root cause rather than putting band-aids on symptoms.
That allows him a real hands-on approach to health. “I really enjoy working here,” he says. “We see lots of people.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Turley says the one thing he always has stocked in his refrigerator is milk because “it makes many things taste better.”
The coolest thing Dr. Turley has done, he says, was a two-year mission trip he took to Bolivia. “We were able to preach the word of God, meet many wonderful people, and see things I have never seen before,” he says. “I was also able to learn two new languages.”
