Daylight Saving Time is under way for most of the people in the country; that means they must adjust to the loss of sunlight and commute to and from work in the dark every day. And if that's not bad enough, they have to deal with the colder temperatures heading their way too! Now, that may not be too big of a deal for some, but for others, it could increase their risk of accidental falls. Outdoor Lighting
If you or your loved ones are no longer heading to work or coming home with the sun guiding the way, you need to have adequate lighting on your property. Navigating your way in the dark is risky so check that all the lights work and add more lighting if needed. Areas to focus on are your driveway, front porch, steps, walkway, and garage entrances.
Safety Rails
It doesn't matter if it's a flight of stairs or just a couple of steps, if you want to protect those who use them, make sure there are railings to grab onto. Stair rails can help you and your loved ones maintain balance and will reduce the risk of twisted ankles and accidental falls.
Sidewalks and Pathways
In addition to making sure your pathways are clear of snow and ice, you also need to frequently check that your holiday decorations and cords are not in the way! Keep an eye on those cords and if they become a problem, tape them down or move your inflatable snowman and reindeer to a safer spot.

Last of all, keep safety ahead of fashion during this time of year.
