The Joys of Fall
By Donna Stark
For many people, the fall season is where it's at, but for those who love summer, it can be a time of great sadness. The days are shorter, the air is cooler, and their favorite activities are shut down and boarded up until the next summer decides to roll around. But that doesn't mean it's all downhill from here. If you are still struggling to accept the change in seasons but are still trying to look at the bright side of things, keep reading. Your local chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic have a few suggestions on how to find as much happiness and fun as you can during this season.
Fall Foods
Are you already missing the lighter meals and fresh produce from the summer? Well, you can still have that during the fall. With just a few ingredient substitutions, you can turn your favorite summer meals into classic fall masterpieces! Replace your baked white potatoes with sweet potatoes, top your salads with cranberries instead of blueberries, and switch your strawberry shortcake with hot apple crumble. Instead of having a cold macaroni salad as a side to your baked chicken, throw some roasted root vegetables on your plate! The road to happiness is definitely paved with delicious food!
Fall Decorations
Nothing gets you more in the spirit of the season than decorations, so go ahead and pack up all the beach shells and citrus-themed pillows scattered around your home. Replace them with seasonal candles, jewel-toned pillows, and miniature gourds. Don't forget to decorate the outside of your home too! Head to your local farmers market to pick up some pumpkins, mums, and corn stalks for the front entrance of your house.
Fall Adventures
Sure, your summer activities were a ton of fun, but don't give up on the activities you can do during fall! If you want an adrenaline boost, head to a haunted theme park or sign up for a scary ghost tour. If you would like a day of fun for the entire family, try a corn maze or pick some apples at your local orchard. Just don't forget to include a hike or two over the weekends. Everyone will love to see the beautiful colors on the trees.
Fall Sports
Fall is synonymous with football, so whether that means you are sitting in the bleachers on a Friday night or heading to the stadium on a Sunday afternoon, it will surely be the highlight of your week. Just remember, those games can get cold, so pack an extra blanket or two and bring plenty of money for some cups of hot chocolate!
Fall Isn't So Bad
Don't let your sadness over the end of summer keep you from enjoying the fall. If you open yourself up to them, there are so many things to love about this season and so much fun to be had. Just give them a chance!
