Need to Solve Neck Pain Now? See Your Chiropractor

By Sandy Schroeder

Neck pain gives little warning. It just arrives, and insists on sticking around making life miserable. If your neck pain is ongoing, see your chiropractor to pinpoint the problem and look for relief now.

The Joint Chiropractic clinic near you is a comprehensive wellness center, with a professional staff of chiropractors who treat pain and offer prevention advice, on a daily basis to patients ranging from teens to seniors.

When you come in, your chiropractor will want to know how long you have had the pain, what the effects are on your normal routines, and what your medical history is.

How Your Chiropractor Helps

If it seems beneficial, a spinal adjustment may be done in an open bay area on a comfortable table. The adjustment may provide far-reaching pain relief for your neck. At the same time, you may feel other benefits such as new energy, more mental clarity or better digestion.

Wellness is a very individual thing. As you and your chiropractor assess your results, you can put together an ongoing treatment plan. At the same time, you may want to consider some ongoing preventive maintenance.

Growing Neck Issue

Text neck has worked its way into the medical vernacular, and has become a fairly common problem. If you spend a lot of time hunched over screens, read a lot at home, or use laptops and tablets in a variety of positions, the constant bent forward fixed position of the neck can trigger pain.

Easy Fixes

  • Make sure all screens that you use are adjusted to reduce strain on your neck.
  • Put a pillow on your lap to prop up laptops or tablets.
  • Use book and manuscript holders to keep material at eye level while you work.
  • Practice good posture while sitting, aligning the neck and the spine. Take frequent breaks to give the shoulder and neck muscles a rest.
  • Use armrests if you sit on the couch. When you take pressure off of the arms, it reduces pressure on the shoulders, letting the shoulder and neck muscles relax.

Neck Exercise from the American Chiropractic Association

According to the ACA, here's an exercise that can help:

Sit up straight. Slowly move your head backward, pulling in the chin. Keep your head level and straight. Do not tilt the head. Hold for three to five seconds. Release. Repeat 10 times.
