How a Routine Can Help You

By Rachel Shouse

It's so common nowadays to feel like you don't have enough time in the day. You may feel anxious or overwhelmed on a regular basis during trying or really busy times. Sometimes, there's no way to avoid chaos. There are going to be times when you have to just roll with it. If this seems to be going on for far too long, it may be time for you to either try a routine or change your current one. There are many benefits to a healthy daily routine. Those benefits include improved mental health, improved motivation and organization, and improved physical health.

Improving Your Mental Health With a Routine

As mentioned earlier, there are going to be periods of life that are much busier than normal. Whether you are going through work changes, renovating your home, busy with your kids and their activities, etc., you may benefit from making a few simple changes.

It can be hard to change the way you run your day/life. Some may struggle more than others. For those who don't seem too bothered by the thought, think about anything you could cut out of your daily tasks. Some things aren't always necessary or realistically do-able. If you have four kids who each have a multitude of activities, you're going to be overwhelmed. Regardless of your situation, sometimes you need to dial it back.

For those who feel completely overwhelmed by the thought of changing their daily routines, just think about the end goal. Which is to lighten the load you're feeling. It's not good for you to feel that way and it's truly unnecessary.

Motivation and Organization

Having a routine can help simplify your day in many ways. While crazy days are going to happen, having routines helps minimize those. If you're in the habit of getting your clothes ready the night before that's going to be one less thing that you're going to have to deal with in the morning. Preparation truly is your friend.

Improving Your Physical Health Through Regular Habits

The people you know that regularly workout and seem to accomplish this without fail aren't perfect people. They've developed a habit of it. It can become second nature after doing it repeatedly. Doctors say that it takes three-months to create a habit that's going to last. While that may feel like a long time, in the grand scheme, it's not. You can accomplish so much by making your physical health a priority. Get regular exercise, eat healthy, and take proper care of yourself.
