Dr. Devonté Walker, DC became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2023 when he began serving residents in Abilene, TX. In July 2024, he transitioned to The Joint Chiropractic Murphy as an Owner / Operator. According to Dr. Walker, the best thing about working at not only this particular Joint, but any of them, is “the ability to treat all demographics. With the affordability of our care, I am able to meet and treat people of all walks of life. What I look forward to most is having a positive impact not only in the chiropractic industry but in this community as well.”

Dr. Walker attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene where he played college football and received his bachelor in Exercise Science. He then attended Parker University and graduated in April of 2022.

“One of my most memorable occurrences was actually getting my Doctorate of Chiropractic. Before my mom passed from colon cancer it was the last promise I ever made to her, that I would get my doctorate in something. April of 2022 I fulfilled that promise.”

“I grew up in West Texas in a small town about 20 miles North of Abilene. I grew up working on our ranch as a ranch hand. Throughout that time, I learned how to build fences, work cattle, break horses etc. That upbringing instilled a lot of hard work and discipline. I believe that it helped shape my life by instilling a good sense of morals and respect for all people and things.”

In his junior year of college, Dr. Walker’s receivers coach made the players go to a chiropractor on Fridays. He began to notice the differences in his playing ability and his recovery time. Going into his senior year, he had reached his internship and interned with that Chiro. This was his first look into chiropractic and the general public. He was blown away with how much patient’s felt after just one adjustment. In that moment he realized that this was how he wanted to serve and give back to his community. He changed courses from Physical Therapist to Chiropractor that semester.

Dr. Walker is married to Marisa Walker who is an “incredible mother, wife, friend and so much more. She has made me a better person, in all aspects, from the moment I met her.” They have a 6 year old named Boston and are expecting their new born in October. Boston enjoys anything outside whether playing catch outside or riding bikes/scooters. They have 2 dogs, Lola who is a Fawn Doberman Pincher and Zeus who is an aussie mix. Their doberman Lola is the sassiest in the house hands down, while Zeus may be a cat disguised as a dog. Both love long walks and some fetch.

“In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors with my family. Can often times catch us grilling out on the back porch or horsing around in the backyard. I enjoy playing the piano and some with the guitar. My get away is a good hoop sesh playing basketball.

Dr. Walker loves the field of chiropractic and having the ability and opportunity to aid in the healing of patients with our hands. “I have been fortunate to witness some incredible things through the chiropractic profession. Getting to help and serve my community is very important to me.” The second best thing about the chiropractic field is getting to meet people in all different walks of life and seeing the joy on their face after their adjustment!

“In life, my head coach at HSU preached to us about what I thought was just football but as I’ve quickly realized he was talking about life. “Find A Way” was a big phrase in our football program and I say it to myself on a daily basis. There’s always a way to accomplish a goal you set, the journey may be different in getting there but the important thing is to Find A Way. The second thing we heard almost everyday was “Control the Controllable” very simple but so impactful once you grasp the understanding.”

If Dr. Walker could give any advice, it would be to love. “Love people in all walks of life. We’re all on this walk in life, spread positivity and love throughout your walk and watch things grow.”
