Things the Chiropractors Wants You to Stop
By Sara Butler
Whether you're aware of it or not, there are a few things you probably do each day that aren't great for your health. These things you do unwittingly could be the source of your everyday aches and pains. Luckily, the chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic understand what you should and shouldn't do, and how to treat your body better throughout the day. Here are some things that chiropractors wish you would stop doing as a way to improve your spinal health and your overall health!
Stop Looking Down at Your Phone
Be honest: How much time do you spend looking at your smartphone each day? And of that time, how much time do you hold it down as you hang your head down to look at it? You may even be doing it right now!
The chiropractors at The Joint are witnesses to something new in this age of technology they want you to be on the lookout for -- tech neck. If you practice poor posture with your phone, then you can place stress and strain on your neck, shoulders, and upper back that results in back pain and headaches. That's why it's important to be mindful not to hang your head forward but to hold your electronic devices at eye level and use them that way. This can help to save you from neck-related problems in the future.
Sitting On Your Wallet
If you carry a wallet in your back pocket and don't take it out when you sit, then your chiropractor wants you to start. When you sit on your wallet, even for a few minutes, it can put pressure on the muscle in your buttocks, which can then lead to irritation of sciatic nerve and pain in your lower back and leg. You can also trigger muscular imbalances, which can lead to dysfunction and restrictions in the joints that can cause problems down the road.
So, do yourself a favor, start taking that wallet out or purchase a slimmer wallet that can be carried in the front pocket.
Not Listening to What Your Body Is Saying
Independent of you, your body is pretty smart. Because of that, when your body is sending you signals about something that may be amiss, you shouldn't ignore them. Look for signs such as pain, discomfort, and fatigue because they may be signs that you're doing too much and pushing yourself too far.
