Some of the Healthiest Foods May Be Out Back
By Tom Herrin
It doesn't really require any kind of top secret information to know what to buy that can help people to support their health. For sure, there are all kinds of things that purport to be the answer to all health needs. Instead of all of that, there are a few things that may have an impact on health in some small way. Overall good health may be a sum total of all of that. One of those small things that can serve a good purpose is a pear. Around here in Texas, there are times when it seems as if they are everywhere. Why not take advantage of what is readily available?
They May Help Skin and Hair
A lot of people worry about maintaining their skin and hair. In fact, people spend lots of money on those products. Pairs contain some pretty powerful antioxidants. Lutein and zeaxanthin do a great job of fighting the signs of aging such as wrinkles and sun spots. They may also help prevent hair loss. These components of Vitamin A make it a critical vitamin that is considered one of the most effective in dealing with skin and hair.
They May Be a Help With Weight Management
Many people labor with dealing with their weight. It is a common struggle. For some, no matter what they do, it seems that they cannot be successful. One of the primary means of losing weight is reducing calories. An average pear is only around 100 calories. Since they have a high water content as well as high fiber, they help people to feel full longer. Having a pear as a snack or dessert can be a good way of cutting those calories.
They Have a Good Flavor
Pears are unlike any other fruit. They have a taste that is sweet without being overwhelming. They are certainly one of the softest fruits around. If you are in a rush for time, you can eat a pear in seconds. No peeling is required and very little chewing. They are often so soft you can indent them with your fingers. I like them raw just the way they are picked. I also enjoy them cooked in cobblers or other dishes. They are always good as preserves. You may have some in your backyard. If they are not there, you are sure to have them at your local grocery store.
