Cutting Carbs Blindly May Cause Trouble
By Tom Herrin
There has been a lot of attention given to the idea of making pretty severe cuts to some parts of a diet. For some, reducing the amount of fats can bring some good results. For others, cutting carbs to a bare minimum is what they strive for. Either one of these has a valid place, but people should be well aware of what the consequences of doing so are. The body needs some of all of the macronutrients, but they need to be included in the correct balance. Random cutting can be harmful, at the very least. Being informed and concerned can be one of the best ways to address any issue involving diet and health.
Limit the Bad Carbs
Before people jump into a new diet, they need to understand what each of the different kinds of nutrients has to offer. In looking at carbs, there are some that are considered to be good and some that are bad. Those that are made up of mostly sugar are on the bad list. Many of the packaged foods that are often purchased as a quick snack fall into the category of sugar-filled carbs. Some recommendations are that women limit their intake of these to 100 calories per day while men should keep their levels to 150 calories per day.
Eat Healthy Carbs When You Want
Some foods may not need to be limited. When people consume good carbs, it is not necessary that they limit themselves as much. Fruits, vegetables, and healthy grains all offer carbs that help to properly fuel the body and maintain the muscles in a healthy condition. If enough of these are not available, the body may begin to use muscles as fuel. This will reduce the available lean muscle in the body. It is the same thing that happens during starvation.

By doing this, I am able to do a better job of comparing and making decisions about balance. We have to know when to stop and when to indulge. Exercising self-discipline is a good way to establish good habits for our eating and diet. It helps me to keep myself in check. Maybe it will do the same for you. It will just take a little time to stop and learn
