Does Chasing Kids Cause You Pain?

By Tom Herrin

Kids seem to have endless amounts of energy.  Sometimes just watching them moving busily around can seem to make you tired.  They are a joy for sure, but often the bending and kneeling after them can be a painful experience.  It may not matter whether you are 20 or 70, you can have some aches and pains that take away from the enjoyment that comes with the territory.  Just because you have a little discomfort doesn’t mean you have to give up the fun.  You just may not be using the right kind of support to maintain that quality lifestyle you enjoy.  Adding chiropractic to your life can bridge that gap between what you would like to do and what you may be currently experiencing.

New Activities Often Bring Out Our Weaknesses

When we do something we haven’t done before, or in a long time, we suddenly find that we are just not in the condition to perform the new activities.  Bending down or kneeling to tend to small children can make you feel like you have suddenly aged.  This really points out our need to add to our health maintenance program, or maybe we need to start one.

Picking Them Up Is The Real Problem

Exercising caution and working up slowly to anything is the key.  Bending over alone can cause some real stiffness.  You may not even realize it until a little later.  Bending over and lifting is a whole different thing.  We often do it unconsciously.  That puts our spine in a position we are not used to, then lifting while bent over is always bad.  It can cause vertebrae to move, maybe in a variety of ways, when we put that kind of strain on both the muscles and soft tissue in the spine.  It is a recipe for disaster.  When you are dealing with young children, their movements are not predictable.  Trying to keep up with those movements can increase the likelihood of injury.  Fortunately you can get help from your chiropractor.

A Plan Of Action For Treatment

Your chiropractor will evaluate your condition and prescribe a course of action.  This will usually include some chiropractic adjustments to help those vertebrae move back into proper place, thus relieving the pressure on the nerves in the spine.  This also takes some strain off of those muscles that are in distress.  The Joint Chiropractic is ready to meet your needs.  No appointment is necessary and no insurance is required.  They can develop a plan for you and have you back chasing those kids in no time.  Just like your car, you may just need a little better maintenance to keep things going smoothly so you can enjoy those special moments.
