Is Breakfast a Major Consideration on Your Menu?

By Tom Herrin

Making decisions is something that many people would prefer not to do.  Taking the easy way often means that they can simply go with the flow and avoid thinking at all.  This is along the same lines as the term “kicking the can down the road.” In other words, if the next person will make the actual decision, it will be just fine.  There is little consideration as to whether or not that decision is beneficial to each person’s health. Like anything else that may need a successful outcome, planning meals with a purpose can be important and may really impact a person’s total health package.  Since breakfast is the first meal of the day, getting it right can be critical.

It May Prevent Anemia

Problems with iron deficiency seem to be pretty common today.  Many people are not able to successfully take iron supplements due to the fact that their bodies do not tolerate it well.  It is believed that, for those who are anemic, beginning the day with a good supply of vitamins can help them to avoid these problems.  Fresh fruits may be a great source of this. Whether it is in the form of whole fruit or some made into smoothies, it is a simple way to prevent or avoid anemia.

It May Mean Better Skin

A lot of people worry about the appearance of their skin.  Inadequate sleep can be one factor but taking in the right amount of water and nutrients early can give people that healthy look they often try to achieve through cosmetics.  Taking in good quality nutrients can help to promote collagen and elasticity in the skin. When these are lacking, people suffer from early appearance of aging in their skin. Eating the right kind of breakfast is a simple and inexpensive way to help skin.

It May Help Manage Cholesterol

Plenty of people struggle with problems with their cholesterol levels.  While many take medications, sometimes a good diet can help with it. Consuming a high fiber diet can play a big part in managing cholesterol.  I prefer to include a lot of oats in my breakfast. Once I included it on a daily basis, along with a couple of other changes in my diet I was able to significantly lower my bad cholesterol.  Plan a breakfast to meet whatever your needs are, and make it work for you.
