Why Not Bring on Some More Fruit?
By Tom Herrin
Most people recognize the need to include fruit in their diets. Those who are really conscientious do so. Many are a little more passive about it and acknowledge the fact but do very little. When including fruit, it can be nice to have a little variety. Apples, oranges, and bananas are fine, but sometimes people need a change. The body can use some variety at times. For those who feel they are stuck with the same old things, pears can add something a little different. They have a lot to offer in a small package.
They Can Be Great for Digestion
Many people suffer with some kinds of digestive problems. There is no doubt that much of it is brought on by poor choices in diet and a lack of exercise. While everyone should seek to improve their exercise program whenever possible, adding some pears can provide a good kick start. They have a high water content. They also have lots of fiber. This means that food is moved effectively through the system. This keeps their digestive system working as it should.
They Can Be Good for the Heart and Circulatory System
It is pretty common for people to suffer from issues related to circulation. Blood pressure and general heart issues can be serious. The potassium alone can help the blood vessels to expand when pressure is increased inside of them. This means that blood pressure can be effectively maintained at a normal level. It also means that the heart does not suffer from the stress of attempting to force the blood through vessels under undue pressure.
They Can Be Taken Anywhere
If you decide you want a pear, all you have to do is take it with you. It doesn't take any special consideration. They are so soft that you can eat one in seconds when you are short on time. They are always good sliced in a bowl, cooked into a dessert, or made into preserves. For very little effort, you may be able to sweeten up your diet and do something for your own health and that of your family members. They should be readily available at the grocery store or farmers market. If you haven't had them in a while, why not give them a try?
