Lifestyle Changes May Beat High Blood Pressure
By Tom Herrin
When people get to the point in their lives in which they have new sets of health issues, they may feel somewhat defeated. The thought of taking medications from now on is not usually one that is pleasant. Some may have a reason they need to take such medication as it can be a life saver for those with genetic issues or something similar. For a big portion of the rest, high blood pressure may well be the result of some bad practices. In a large number of these cases, people may be able to manage their high blood pressure quite effectively through simple changes in lifestyle. In effect, they may be acting to reverse what they did to get there in the first place.
Get More Exercise
The basic idea of exercising is to help to burn calories and increase circulation. The thought of exercising may seem discouraging to many. This is likely due tp the fact that they do not have a favorable opinion of doing so. They are probably unaware that this does not have to be heavy activity with lots of sweating. It can begin with a trip down to the end of the block and back. After a while, there is sure to be a good feeling associated with it. A little success can provide more motivation. Even small amounts of moderate activity can help to lower blood pressure.
Stop Doing Things to Harm
Some people smoke and some drink and some do both. Cutting out one or the other will surely help high blood pressure. One thing is that, once people begin to see progress, they may be much more encouraged to continue their efforts. No one wants to make changes with no results. If they truly want to take control of their blood pressure, a commitment to regular activity can make a difference. The really good new is that it can be moderate.
Get on Board
If we are serious about managing our health while avoiding medication, it is possible. I am one of those who sits on the bubble on a lot of things. I find that I have to constantly check and balance my weight, blood pressure, blood sugar and about everything else. We use a monitor at home to check our blood pressure. I also use the scales for my weight. As I use these things, they may tell me a story I don't like. I find that I can take action immediately and make a difference. So what if I can't sit around and eat whatever I want whenever I want. I can can enjoy better health with only modest effort.
