How to Reset for Better Health
By Brandi Goodman
It can be hard to improve your health when your body is so used to all the bad habits you've been exhibiting for so long. You need a full reset so you can prepare your mind and your body for a journey toward better health. Learn how best to reset so you can improve your well-being.
Detox
A detox may be what your body needs to get rid of built-up toxins and help you to start over with a clean slate. There are several detox options you can try. A detox bath is a simple method. You put one cup of Epsom salt and one cup of baking soda in a hot bath and soak for 20 minutes. It helps you relax and de-stress and also promotes better circulation so your systems can function optimally.
There are tea detoxes and things you can take if you hope to cleanse your body from the food and substances you've consumed. You could instead simply fast for a day. Drink lots of water and avoid eating anything so your body has the chance to rid itself of anything harmful. You may feel tired or weak while you're not eating but afterward you should experience less bloating and discomfort and feel rejuvenated.
Get Plenty of Rest
Sleep can help you to reset. When you're not getting enough of it each night you're leaving your mind and body more susceptible to stress and illness. It can be easier to binge on unhealthy foods and drinks and keep yourself stimulated with substances. Get plenty of rest and you won't have to rely on these harmful options.
Take a Day Away
Having a day away from it all can be just what you need to rest your mind. You won't have to experience the things that have been stressing you and can instead enjoy some time to yourself. Don't work. Don't get on social media. Just unwind and clear your mind of all the clutter.
Put Forth Positive Thoughts
Negative thinking can have a lot to do with why you struggle to get healthy. You need to put forth positive thoughts instead if you hope to have any success. Start a gratitude journal and write down what you're thankful for and all the good that's going on in your life. Start to tell yourself positive affirmations as well. "I'm capable of meeting my goals." "I can do this." "I am worthy of a healthy life." Repeating these phrases can help you to realize that they are in fact true, even if it takes you awhile to believe them.
Reset your mind and body and you'll be on your way toward better health. It's easier to get healthier and improve your well-being when you're cleansed of the negative mindset and the unhealthy habits of the past.
