Concentration Made Easy: Follow These Steps

By Brandi Goodman

It can be difficult to concentrate when you're tired, stressed, or have other things on your mind. Yet the need to concentrate on work or family is great. With some steps to follow, you should find your concentration skills improved -- and your mind much more clear and better able to focus on the important tasks at hand.

Put Down the Phone

Cell phones and other devices prove to be too much stimulation for the brain. You have a constant flow of information and images coming at you. You also may find yourself looking at your phone often instead of focusing on what's around you. Put down the phone and devices and spend time with your friends and family in person. It's also wise to avoid phone time in the hours leading up to bed because the blue light emitted from it can interfere with your sleep patterns.

Set a Better Schedule

A busy schedule can often keep you from getting any time to yourself. You need to set a better schedule that factors in everything you need for your well-being. This may mean penciling in a time for you to spend alone, even if it's just a half-hour before bed to read or journal. Schedule in exercise as well, because it can release endorphins that help boost your mood, not to mention improve your body and mind.

Add Sleep to the Schedule, Too

A lack of sleep can have a major impact on your concentration levels. Get none, and you'll have no concentration at all. You need to add sleep to your schedule and make sure you're setting a routine each night that can help you catch the Zzz's you need. Make sure you're fully relaxed and ready to sleep before heading to bed, and try to go at the same time each night. Set an alarm and wake at the same time each morning as well, whether you have work to do or not. It will help you maintain your sleep routine and keep your mind healthy.

Your concentration and focus can be thrown off easily when you're not sleeping well, you're distracted by your phone, or you're too busy with other things to find time for yourself. Follow these steps and you'll have improved concentration that helps you keep your eye on the ball at all times.
