Handle Pain the Herbal Way
By Brandi Goodman
Your mind and body can get worn down quickly when you're dealing with constant pain. Whether you're struggling with back pain, headaches, tension in your neck, or aches elsewhere, herbs are an option for helping to treat it. Pain management using natural methods is far more beneficial than anything else you could try.
Have Joint Pain? Try Ginger
Ginger extract is useful for stopping inflammation. If you're feeling achy anywhere, it's a good thing to try. Ginger extract works well, but you can also try ginger tea. When you're a manual worker that has an aching body most of the day from the job tasks you do, this can come in handy.
Have Headaches? Try Feverfew
Headaches are sometimes minor enough that a Tylenol or two will do. Taking pills like this often, however, can lead to worse health consequences. Give feverfew a try instead. It works to restrict blood vessels so they can't contract, and helps stop inflammation. Feverfew can help lessen headache pain and pressure.
Have Muscle Spasms? Try Valerian Root
When your muscles get overly tense, they can end up spasming. This can lead to some serious pain. It's common in legs. If you're currently experiencing this, try taking valerian root. It's an antispasmodic that can reduce tension felt within the body and in turn slow down spasms.
Have General Pain? Try Peppermint
You shouldn't take too many over-the-counter painkillers. They can damage your kidneys and liver. It's better to find a natural solution, and peppermint oil is just that. You can drink peppermint tea to get the benefits, or inhale the scent of the essential oil. Either way, it works to release tension that's causing headaches and help soothe sore muscles.
Also Try Oregano
Whether you're experiencing arthritis pain, having a migraine, or suffering from muscle spasms, oregano is another general pain reliever. It can even work on sore throats. Oregano isn't just for adding flavor to your Italian dishes. Add oil of oregano and a drop of coconut oil under your tongue and rinse your mouth out after a couple of minutes. You can also try a capsule. Either way, your body will get the benefits.
If you're plagued by pain, a visit to the chiropractor is in order. You may have a joint restriction that needs correcting or have a more underlying issue. The herbs will work great for many pains and aches, but they aren't a cure-all. Pair it with chiropractic for proper pain management.
