Natural Products to Clean and Brighten the Smile
By Genevieve Cunningham
Who doesn’t want a white, healthy looking smile? Everyone hopes that their teeth are healthy and bright. So how do we get this appearance? It’s all in the way we take care of them. Prevention and attention to this part of our bodies is necessary to keep them healthy. While traditional toothpastes and rinses can certainly help, there may be a few natural approaches you can take as well. If you’re interested in improving your oral health in a natural way, take a look at these tips.
Baking Soda
Baking soda is an obvious choice for most people. It is even included in many toothpastes in order to bring a whitening effect. In a pinch, you can put a little baking soda with some water to make a bit of a natural paste. Brush normally, just as you would with regular toothpaste. You can use baking soda once a day, or if need be, multiple times a day without doing harm. Just be gentle on your teeth when you brush, as baking soda is a bit abrasive.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is an ncredibly diverse product. Along with using it for your skin and for cooking, it can also be used for your mouth. You can either use coconut oil all by itself, or this also works well as a paste with some baking soda (see above). If you choose to use it all alone, just make sure that you don’t rely on coconut for too long. While it can give your teeth a quick freshening, it won’t work to keep plaque away over a long period of time.
Apples
Apples won’t work as a toothpaste. But if you’re looking for a way to quickly remove food and plaque from your teeth after a meal, apples are great! The gritty texture proved just enough abrasiveness to remove grime. Just follow up your lunch with an apple, and then you can brush once you get home at the end of the day.
Everyone wants a beautiful smile and healthy teeth. And while some of the appearance of our teeth is all in the luck of the draw, there are definitely steps you can take to brighten your smile. Use these natural methods to clean your teeth, keep them bright, and maintain their health for years to come.
