Pile on the Leafy Greens for Health

By Tom Herrin

Lots of times, people pile on some kind of food.  How many have had a contest in which they wanted to see who can eat the most pizza?  There is no point in counting all of those calories.  How many places offer supersize servings of any food?  It seems like the norm more than the exception.  One food that may be safely piled on is leafy greens.  They are mostly low in calories and high in nutrients.  They are also a great food to introduce to children at an early age.  The possibilities are endless and people can get as creative as they like with them.

Stay Young Looking With Leafy Greens

Whether or not anything can guarantee that people will look young is a pretty good stretch.  Caring for the skin, however, can make a big difference.  There are plenty of skincare products on the market.  Many can help to keep the skin soft and smooth.  Leafy greens contain nutrients that can provide what the skin needs to stay healthy.  Since many leafy greens have a high water content, they can help to keep moisture in the skin.  This may help to prevent wrinkles and maintain elasticity.

Eating Leafy Greens May Help Prevent Anemia

There are a lot of reasons why people are low on iron.  Some may be due to age, illness, or all sorts of other causes.  Leafy greens can supply some iron.  It has been said that if people will eat three to six servings per week of spinach, they may avoid anemia.  It has a good reputation for building strength.  This is likely due to the fact that iron helps the blood to be able to carry oxygen to the rest of the body.

Quick and Easy Meals Can Be a Hit

At our house, we really enjoy having salads with leafy greens.  They can be prepared fast and easy.  They are always light and yet filling.  These greens can also help with digestion.  They add bulk to the food we eat, thus making it easier to move through the digestive system.  Especially when I am wanting to be on the go, they make a great meal.  Since they are light and filling, they make a good meal anytime I am in need of getting started on a weight loss program.  Why not browse through the produce section and see what you may want to try?
