Let the Cooler Air Serve a Purpose

By Tom Herrin

There are many different types of people.  They have all kinds of likes and dislikes.  Even with this being the case, it has been said that most people in the world seem to prefer temps from 60 to 80 degrees.  This may seem to generally be the most comfortable for living.  Beyond that, many people are affected by temperature as to their overall health and well-being.  Researchers today study all kinds of things for the effect they have.  It is good to have an open book because it helps us to think outside the box.  As a result, new and innovative approaches are used to find something other than the standard form of solving various problems. Those studying the effects of temperature have come to some interesting conclusions.

Better Sleep May Be Available

Those who have studied the effects of temperature have discovered some things that may be of use to the many who experience constant fatigue as a consequence of multiple sleepless nights.  Some have found that there is a temperature range that seems to support greater success in sleeping.  That range is 65-72 degrees with 68 degrees as the prime target temp.  It appears that this range may support the body's ability to complete the entire sleep cycle each night.  This means people will arise more refreshed after having a good night's sleep.

Weight Loss May Be Easier

Except for the fact that many people are aware that they may need to avoid temps that are too warm when they exercise, most likely pay little attention to the relationship of temperatures and weight loss.  Apparently a very specific range of temperatures has been identified as being a support for those attempting to lose weight.  This range of 64-67 degrees is believed by some to be ideal.  In addition to this, it is thought that those who shiver may increase the rate at which they burn calories by as much as five times.

Many Things Are Trial and Error

You don't necessarily have to take anyone's word for any of this information, but it may be worth a try.  I have had problems sleeping in the past but found that I usually slept better when it was cooler.  As a result, I always turn down my thermostat before I go to bed at night.  For me, it seems to work well.  I sleep better and wake up less during the night.  There is also something about sleeping under covers which I do when it is cool.  I give it a thumb's up.
