How's Your Well-Being?

By Sara Butler

There’s a lot of talk about how to live healthy, how much to exercise, and how to lead a healthier lifestyle. But when was the last time you sat down and thought about how you’re addressing your well-being? It’s important to take stock of your energy levels, sleep quality, self-esteem, and stress levels regularly so you can get a snapshot of how you’re doing. Here are some tips to help you check your daily wellness.

Your Energy Levels

When you’re thinking about how much energy you feel you have, think about it on a scale of one to five, with one being the lowest and five being the highest. How would you rate your levels of energy today?

There are a lot of things that can impact energy, such as how stressed out you feel, how good of a night’s sleep you got last night, or how much you’ve exercised (or neglected to exercise). Even the quality of your diet can have an impact. Take stock each day of how you’re feeling and try to pick up on any trends. If you notice that your energy levels are down more than they’re up, you may want to talk to a medical professional to make sure nothing is going on under the surface that needs to be addressed.

Your Sleep Quality

Use the same scale to rate how you slept last night. Was it a 1, in which you tossed and turned all night long, or was it a 5 in which you nodded off to Dreamland with no problem?

Poor sleep can have a huge impact on your health, causing problems with the immune system and even making you more susceptible to disease. So, look for ways to improve sleep quality if you need help.

Self-Esteem

How good or bad do you feel about yourself today? Are you a rock star or do you feel as if you just can’t do anything right?

Having good self-esteem is essential to a healthy lifestyle. You have to know you’re worth investing time and energy in to get healthy. Feeling good about yourself allows you to make better choices that will have a good impact on your health, so learn how to use positive self-talk and exercise to build yourself up!

Your Stress Levels

How is your stress today? Do you feel as if you want to pull out your hair or is it all firmly under control? Stress can have a huge impact on your health if you don’t find healthy ways to deal with it. Exercising and practicing deep breathing are two great ways to help control your stress levels before it gets the best of you.

Your well-being is a part of your overall health, so make sure to keep tabs on it!
