Try These Fitness Motivation Tricks
By Sara Butler
You know that exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Still, many people have issues motivating themselves to work out regularly. If you find yourself among them, then you may want to try a few of these tested fitness motivation tricks to help you get your body moving.
Buy New Shoes
If it's been a while since you invested in some new workout kicks, then there's no time like the present to get a new pair! Go to your local athletic footwear store and get fitted for the right shoe for your workout activity, such as running or walking. A new, lightweight pair of shoes may just be what you need to get started on your new workout routine.
Switch It Up
There is such a thing as a workout rut. If you normally hit the treadmill to get your exercise in, then consider adding something else into your routine. Sign up for a new group exercise class or get a friend to go biking with you. Whatever you need to give you some variety and inspire your workouts is a good thing and will help you to stick with your exercise routine.
Reward Yourself
Even though there are many benefits and rewards to your health that come from working out, sometimes you need something a little more tangible for your workout routine. Consider rewarding yourself with something non-food related when you hit a workout goal, such as that new bag you've had your eye on or that photography class you've always wanted to sign up for. If you can reward yourself with little things along the way in your fitness journey, then you can help to keep yourself motivated. Everyone deserves a reward, after all!
There's Probably an App for That
If there's a part of your fitness journey you're having trouble tracking, from your macros and micros to your rest days, chances are there's an app for that. You can find all sorts of fitness tracking apps for free that can help you to stay motivated and track your progress all at once.
Always Be Prepared
You've likely heard it before, but that's because doing it works: be prepared. At the beginning of each week you should set yourself up for fitness success by packing your gym bag, throwing a few snacks in, and scheduling your workouts for the week. You'll be more likely to meet your fitness commitments if you're ready to do so -- it'll be more difficult to talk yourself out of it that way.
Staying motivated to workout can be a challenge. Try these tricks to make it a little easier!
