Keep Your Weight Loss Goals From Becoming Sabotaged

By Stephen R. Farris

Have you set any resolutions for 2022? For some of us, we don't wait for the new year to come along, as we constantly set monthly resolutions when it comes to diet and exercise goals.

The bottom line. They're hard to keep!

Every American is bombarded daily with numerous advertisements from fast food chains. And if you have a smartphone, it's even worse. These fast-food chains have apps. And they send you emails or push notifications through the app. Seems like we're always being sabotaged when it comes to losing weight or exercising more.

I know it's easy to have a fast-food app downloaded to your phone, for quick ordering, but if you're serious about losing weight and getting more exercise, then you might want to delete those apps and mark those emails as spam.

You might try some of these tips as well, when it comes to diet and exercise, but remember to check in with your doctor and/or local chiropractor before starting any weight loss program or workout routine.

Practice Mindful Eating

Practicing mindful eating doesn't mean you should focus on the food you eat. Well, in a way it does, but in a nutshell, mindful eating has more to do with not being distracted while consuming your meal. Rather instead, focus on how the food tastes, smells, looks, and feels. This allows you to eat more slowly and enjoy the food you're consuming. According to research, eating slowly can lead to feeling fuller and help lower your daily calorie intake.

Snack Healthier

Be smart when it comes to snacks in between meals, especially when you're counting calories. Instead of chips or candy bars, try switching your snack cravings to foods such as Greek yogurt, fresh fruits, raw vegetables, nuts, or humus. You might even incorporate some of those nuts with your Greek yogurt for more flavor, or dip fruit pieces, or veggie slices in your humus.

Step It Up!

Maybe the type of work you do requires long hours of sitting. According to some recent television commercials, sitting is the new smoking. In other words, too much sitting could cause health problems. So, it might be time to "step it up" and move more. Here's a couple of ideas that could help you get in more steps each day. When you get to work, park as far away from the door as possible. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Walk during your breaks.

Nobody said it would be easy to get healthy, but doing nothing at all could lead to future health problems. Let's get moving. You can do it!
