Finding Your Energy!
By Donna Stark
I am fairly confident that we have all had those low-energy, "don't want to do anything" type of days. You know that I mean, don't you? I'm talking about those times when no matter how enticing that new restaurant sounds, how great that shoe sale is, or how much fun that family picnic is going to be, you just can't get yourself excited to go. Days like that are common, but what isn't common is if you feel like that all the time. If you are struggling with an increasing lack of motivation to do the things you once couldn't get enough of, take heart! There are several tips and strategies that you can try that may have a significant impact on how you feel. Take a look.
Keep Moving
You may not feel like doing anything other than sitting on the couch and watching television, but increasing physical activity can actually help to increase your energy. The key is to focus on both physical activity and exercise! What's the difference? Well, physical activity consists of all your movements throughout the day and exercise is ... well, it's exercise! So start moving more during the day and try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise in as well!
Get Your Sleep
Stop waking up feeling more tired than how you did when you went to bed! Prioritize your sleep so that you can feel refreshed and energized for the day ahead of you. Most people need at least seven or eight hours every night and it is easy to achieve that if you darken your bedroom, regulate the temperature, and use white noise to help induce sleepiness. It also helps to put your phone in a different room in the house!
Nourish Yourself
Did you skip breakfast this morning and are you wondering why you feel so sluggish? Well, it certainly isn't rocket science. You need to nourish your body and provide it with the fuel it needs to power through your days! So try to avoid skipping meals and choose healthy snacks to nibble on if you get hungry between meals. You should also keep water on hand at all times too!
Reduce Your Stress
One of the biggest energy zappers in our lives is stress! It's important to take the right steps to reduce as much of the stress in your life as possible, so head to the gym, learn how to meditate, take the day off, read a book, or do anything else that you know will help! Even if it is just a 15-minute walk to clear your head. If it works, do it!
