6 Secrets of Really Fit People

You may have friends that you absolutely envy. They are in great shape, but never seem to exercise. Actually their secret is establishing a set of habits that makes fitness easy. They stick with their plan and the results are pretty much perfect.

Here are six things that really fit people do to stay in shape.

They make exercise fun - Regular routines for daily exercise are much more likely to happen if you enjoy what you are doing. Really fit people understand this and pick exercises that they enjoy. Then they follow through because they understand the health rewards of regular exercise. Ask yourself what fits you and your schedule. Sports, boot camps, or daily jogging, walking, or running can be the answer that keeps you on target.

They eat healthy instead of dieting - They focus on fruits, vegetables, whole grains and healthy oils and find the combinations that work best for them. Take a look at your current diet and see what supplies energy and keeps you feeling fit and looking good. Avoid junk foods and stay focused on healthy menus.

They make exercise a priority - Really fit people find ways to stay on track wherever they are. If they walk every day, when they travel they walk around the airport, and walk in the hotel gym when they arrive. If they wind up working extra hours, they get up earlier to do their walking in the morning. Whatever it takes, they make the effort to keep exercise in place on their schedule.

They understand small rewards - Overall, really fit people eat healthy meals and avoid junk food, but they understand the psychological value of having bites of chocolate or a cookie here and there to avoid getting completely off track.

They know the value of rest - Really fit people keep a regular sleep schedule and take steps to make the bedroom a serene retreat. They understand how important adequate sleep is to maintain energy and regular daily schedules. They use blackout drapes, air filters to screen noise, and regular bedtimes to make sure they get enough rest.

They stay active every day - Regular workouts are a priority, but really fit people go beyond that to keep moving throughout the day. Short walks, mid-morning stretches, and walks in the evening often replace couch time. On the weekends they join friends on basketball or tennis courts, or head out for hiking or biking with their family. If you want to follow their lead, take a look at your schedule, and your activities. The more you do, the more energy and motivation you will have to keep moving, which is really the biggest secret of all.
