5 Fall Fitness Tips to Consider
By Brandi Goodman
The fall season tends to see the decline of fitness levels in many households. School and work schedules have commenced. Fall shows have started back up. Stress levels are higher while sleep becomes less. Time and energy for exercise just doesn't seem in the cards. With some fitness tips in mind this fall, you can help keep yourself on track and gain the benefits exercise brings to your health.
Make Yard Work Your Exercise
Yard work needs to get done in the fall months. The grass still needs to be trimmed for a while. You need to rake the leaves that fall. Get outside to tackle your outdoor chores and make it part of your exercise routine. You can actually burn quite a few calories and work up a sweat doing so.
Take Regular Walks
Walking provides an excellent form of exercise. You'll burn calories while building lower body strength and warding off heart disease. A walk around the block or through trails at a local park can help you de-stress as well. Take in the beauty around you and help ease your mind.
Keep Your Bike Ready
Biking isn't strictly meant for summer. You can continue to enjoy a peaceful ride around your neighborhood's roads as the fall weather changes around you. You may need to wear some layers, but you can still experience the many benefits this form of exercise brings. Your lower body will especially thank you.
Stay Active While Binge-Watching
A binge-watching session doesn't have to keep you sedentary. If you do choose to watch several episodes of your favorite shows in a row, make sure to stay active while you do. Bring out your favorite piece of exercise equipment and utilize it while you view your series. You can even just step in place, use some free weights, or use your couch for some tricep dips.
Turn Up the Music
No matter the time of year, dancing around your house is an easy exercise choice. Turn up the music and dance to your heart's content. It's fun to do and won't feel like you're exercising. You can easily get the whole family involved, too.
Fitness tends to subside in the fall. Don't let this happen. You need daily exercise to maintain your health and well-being. Keep these tips in mind when considering a fall fitness routine so you can make the most of the season.
