Have a Big Plate of Leafy Greens for Health
By Tom Herrin
How many people fill their plates every day with good, fresh, leafy greens? Those who do likely are doing themselves a favor in terms of improving their health. It is one of those things that may not receive as much attention as other programs with a lot of polish, but including leafy greens in a diet can help in many areas. It may be a simple and inexpensive way to make a positive change in health.
Leafy Greens May Help Digestion
Since so many people have digestive issues, there are plenty of so called remedies out there. Leafy greens can provide nutrients that may help the digestive system to work its best. They can also add bulk to the food that is being digested. This can help it to pass through the body more efficiently. Many times, when people have these issues, they become drained of their energy, but these nutrients may help to restore those that may have been lost.
Cholesterol Problems May Be Minimized By Some Foods
It is pretty common for people to have cholesterol concerns today. Some of this may be due to the fact that they consume so much fast food. Much of this food is made from poor quality meats and prepared with oils that are known to cause high bad cholesterol. These greens may be able to help clear the blockages that can clog blood vessels. They are a worthwhile food to add to a diet to help with this serious situation.
Leafy Greens May Make Fast and Tasty Meals
Our family enjoys eating leafy greens in salads. They are light but provide lots of good nutrients. They are simple to prepare. I can throw a salad together in a matter of a few minutes and have it on the table ready to eat. We like to see just how we can dress them up. I like to add olives, carrots, cucumbers, and all sorts of other things. To keep it healthy, I usually top it with some kind of Italian dressing because I feel that the oils are good for me. When I eat this kind of meal, I feel that I can go out and be as active as I want without feeling too loaded down. Particularly when it is warm, it is one of our favorite meals. If you haven't had them much lately, give them a try for your own better health.
