How to Find a Fitness Routine That Works for You
By Genevieve Cunningham
Fitness plans are necessary if you want to stay in great shape. They give you a routine, a little bit of motivation, and a bit of a guide. But fitness plans can also be complicated. Why? Because just like people, they’re all different. And each person responds to each plan differently. So if you’re just beginning, how can you determine which is best for you and your life? To get moving down a health and fitness plan that will be successful for your needs, take a look at these tips for choosing wisely.
Determine Your Likes and Dislikes
It’s important to determine what you like and don’t like when it comes to fitness. Hate running? Then you’re going to want to steer clear of a plan that includes running a set number of miles per week. Love weights? Then you’ll need a fitness plan that incorporates weights regularly. Some people love yoga, others hate it. Where do you fall on the spectrum? Until you know your own likes and dislikes, it’s impossible to choose a plan that is effective and that you’ll stick with long-term.
Ask and Observe
If you’re just beginning, start out by asking someone who is already on the journey. Have a friend who is a fitness buff? Ask them for their opinion. Ask a personal trainer or a doctor. If you don’t have anyone to ask, get down to your local gym for some observation. Don’t know what a Zumba class looks like? Watch one. Power pump aerobics? Check it out. Through careful research and observation, you should be able to find something that works for you and helps you meet your ultimate goals.
Give It a Try
If you’re a total newbie and you have a sense of adventure, get out there and give it a try. Join a class you’ve never heard of, do some sprinting, pick up your old bicycle. Sometimes a little experimentation is the best way to figure it all out. Try a fitness plan. Don’t like it? Try another. Keep altering your choices until you find something that works for your lifestyle.
A good fitness plan works wonders. It can get you in better shape, improve basic health, and make you feel better than ever. Use these tips to find one that works for you, and enjoy a boost in your wellness for years to come.
