Meet The Doctors

Dr. Scott Heiser joined the team at The Joint Chiropractic in 2010 and finds it gratifying to provide healthcare services at more than one clinic location, including Loveland, Fort Collins, and Fort Collins South.

“I enjoy helping patients experience pain relief and take steps toward wellness with consistent chiropractic care,” he says, “and the reward of being part of the wellness process with patients.”

Dr. Scott, as his patients call him, grew up in northern Illinois where his sports background enabled him to see the effect that chiropractic care had on himself and others around him. He previously worked in DeWitt, Iowa, before moving to Colorado.

Dr. Scott met his wife, Julie, while completing a Doctorate at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. She is a marathon runner and volleyball player. They have one daughter and two sons who are also active and enjoy sports, including baseball and bowling. The family has a golden retriever named Wrigley.

Dr. Scott loves baseball, football, hiking, camping, and spending time in the mountains. He found his calling as a chiropractor when he spent a year suffering from migraines, and after two adjustments they were gone. "The power that made the body heals the body."

One of his most memorable experiences as a chiropractor occurred while practicing in Bolivia and a patient was brought in on a stretcher. “He had previously been advised to stay seated or lie down due to the amount of back pain he was experiencing,” Dr. Scott says. “I checked him two times over two days, and on the third day he walked across the room after not standing or walking for nearly five years.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

Dr. Scott always has salsa in his refrigerator. “The whole family loves salsa.”

If he could host a dinner party and invite four famous guests, he would include Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Babe Ruth, and Barry Sanders. “I would enjoy listening to four people who played and lived at such a high level.”

One of the greatest experiences of Dr. Scott’s life was traveling to Bolivia and working at a hospital there. “It put a lot of things in perspective.”

If he wrote an autobiography, the title would be Go Hard and Then Find Time to Relax.

A helpful life hack he’s received is: "Do what you do as well as you can do it." A favorite piece of advice he likes to offer is: “Don’t waste what is freely given.”

Dr. John E. Wolfgang, D.C. serves as a Senior Chiropractor at The Joint Chiropractic in Fort Collins South, Colorado. With over 25 years in practice, he brings a deep well of experience, compassion, and purpose to his care.

Dr. John says the most rewarding part of being a chiropractor is seeing his patients’ eyes light up after an adjustment—a moment that continues to inspire his work every single day. His journey into chiropractic began in his early 20s, when he suffered from migraine headaches that were resolved through the care of a remarkable local chiropractor. That personal healing experience sparked a lifelong dedication to helping others.

He earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, where he gained both clinical skill and a deep appreciation for the body’s ability to heal.

Originally from the Coal Region of Eastern Pennsylvania, Dr. John has shared his expertise in communities across the country, including Frackville, Reading, and Allentown, Pennsylvania; Los Angeles, California; and Boulder, Colorado, before finding his home in Fort Collins.

Whether it’s weight training, firearms training, meditation, or spending time outdoors, Dr. John embraces life with energy and presence. He’s even been known to skydive, bringing the same bold spirit to his downtime that he brings to his work in the clinic.

Throughout his career, Dr. John has witnessed countless meaningful transformations—but says the most fulfilling moments are when patients regain the ability to do the things that bring joy into their lives.

A personal philosophy he lives by is simple and powerful:

“When something no longer serves your greater good, let it go.”

Dr. Shannon Brickley, DC, known by patients as Dr. Shay, brings a deep-rooted passion for natural wellness to her work at The Joint Chiropractic’s Fort Collins South location. Her journey into chiropractic began over a decade ago when she started her career as a licensed massage therapist in 2012. For nearly ten years, she built a thriving practice centered around helping others heal. When the pandemic paused life, it gave her the space to dream bigger—and that dream led her to chiropractic.

Dr. Shay earned both her Doctorate of Chiropractic and a Bachelor’s degree in Anatomy from Parker University. Her experience working for chiropractors as a massage therapist gave her early insight into the profession, and as she studied and practiced, she realized that many of chiropractic’s core beliefs—particularly the body’s natural ability to heal—were already central to her own view of health. She is also a certified yoga instructor, bringing an integrative, body-aware perspective to her patient care.

At The Joint, Dr. Shay thrives in the fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoys treating a wide range of patients. She values working alongside fellow doctors, knowing that a team-based approach allows for more comprehensive and effective care. “When we support one another,” she says, “we’re better equipped to support our patients.”

Dr. Shay finds deep fulfillment in helping people reconnect with their bodies and heal naturally. She believes that the body can do incredible things when given the right conditions—and chiropractic care is a powerful tool to remove interference and restore balance. From easing chronic headaches to helping people simply feel more at ease in their own bodies, her work is rooted in compassion and a deep respect for the body’s innate intelligence.

Born in Fort Collins and raised in Austin, Texas, Dr. Shay was immersed early on in a culture of mindful living. Austin’s vibrant health scene—full of yoga, natural therapies, and time in nature—shaped her holistic approach and continues to influence her values.

When she’s not adjusting patients, you can find Dr. Shay spending time with her dogs, paddle boarding at Horsetooth Reservoir, hiking, reading, catching a movie, or discovering new local restaurants. These activities help her recharge and stay inspired.

One of her most meaningful moments as a chiropractor was adjusting her 3-month-old nephew for the first time. With just a gentle adjustment, he relaxed deeply and later enjoyed one of his best naps yet—an experience that reaffirmed the power of subtle, intentional care. She also finds joy in helping patients with chronic headaches find relief, often watching their symptoms become less intense and more manageable with regular adjustments.

If she could host a dinner party, Dr. Shay would invite Dr. Jordan Peterson for his psychological depth, Dolly Parton for her radiant positivity, Robin Williams for his humor and heart, and Audrey Hepburn for her timeless grace. Each one reflects qualities that Dr. Shay values in her life and practice: thoughtfulness, compassion, joy, and presence.
