Meet The Doctors

Dr. Bree Barrett, D.C. is a Chiropractor at East Atlanta

Dr. Bree Barrett joined The Joint Chiropractic in 2016 and returned to the Midtown and East Atlanta locations in 2019. She graduated Cum Laude from Loyola University-New Orleans with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. From there she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Life University with her doctorate in chiropractic.

“The best thing about being in the chiropractic field is the ability to help patients experience health and wellness without drugs and surgery,” she says. “The other thing that is so gratifying is the relationship we build with patients and supporting them through life’s ups and downs.”

Dr. Bree, as she prefers her patients call her, has worked in Marietta and Acworth, as well as Atlanta. A product of South Louisiana, she enjoys running 5K and 10K races, along with cooking and reading when she’s not working or spending time with her two daughters and son.

She pursued chiropractic because she saw the failings of the status quo. “My aunt was battling multiple sclerosis and breast cancer, and traditional medicine was not healing,” she says. “If anything, the MS drugs created the breast cancer. Chiropractic care was able to relieve some of the pain caused by MS and help improve my aunt’s quality of life.” Dr. Bree is excited to be working at the Midtown and East Atlanta locations. “I love working with this staff,” she says. “I feel like I am part of a cohesive team that provides the best quality care available.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

Dr. Bree says the one thing she always has stocked in her refrigerator is vanilla-flavored almond milk: “It’s my daughter’s favorite.”

Her dream dinner would include a table that has Oprah Winfrey, U2 singer Bono, entertainer Chelsea Handler, and Chef Emeril Lagasse. “Oprah is a legend and inspiration, and Chelsea Handler is hilarious,” Dr. Bree says. “U2 is my favorite band and I admire Bono’s humanitarian work, and Chef Emeril is a fantastic chef who loves New Orleans as much as I do.”

The coolest thing Dr. Bree has done, she says, took place while on vacation. “I went to China and walked the Great Wall of China.”

Dr. Boyd Igbo, D.C. is a Chiropractor at East Atlanta

Dr. Boyd graduated with honors from Texas Chiropractic College, after obtaining his bachelor's degree in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry from Texas Southern University. He was introduced to Chiropractic after his friend was injured and disabled for months due to a car accident. Boyd practiced in Houston until hisailing father, a General Practitioner in Nigeria, persuaded him to complete a medical diploma to assume responsibility of his father's clinic. He obtained his medical degree from St. Mathews University School of Medicine, located in Oviedo, Florida. He then practiced pain medicine as a specialty, utilizing Prolotherapy and Platelets Rich Plasma Injections (PRP) to aleviate pain, in Nigeria for 5 years. Dr. Boyd still monitors this fully operational clinic in Nigeria and travels there to assist with patients whenever he has a chance. With both a medical and chiropractic background, he is a great asset. For over 10 years, Dr. Boyd has maintained the reputation of being a competent and careful Chiropractor.

Dr. Kevin Stalls, D.C. is a Chiropractor at East Atlanta

Dr. Kevin Stalls joined the family of local healthcare providers with The Joint Chiropractic in 2019 with his arrival at the East Atlanta clinic location. Dr. Stalls -- you can also call him Dr. Kevin -- graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in theater arts from Colorado State University before earning a doctorate of chiropractic from Texas Chiropractic College.

“The thing I like most about being in this field is that chiropractic really does help people feel better,” Dr. Stalls says. “I like the opportunity to be a calming and caring presence in someone else’s life.”

Dr. Stalls is no stranger to Atlanta professionally, but as a self-described military brat, he is also no stranger to Texas, Virginia, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Iceland.

When he’s not working or spending time with his family, which includes two daughters, a Chihuahua named Rothko, and a wife he describes as “the absolute best,” Dr. Stalls enjoys cooking.

Although he thinks his true calling is as an actor and writer, Dr. Stalls knew he had found his purpose at the very beginning of his career. “I was finally at clinic at TCC and I started treating someone with severe back pain, as well as PTSD, and I was able to help him so much in life,” he says. “I knew then that I was going to have a major positive impact on the lives of many people as a chiropractor.”

He could not be happier that he is now having a major positive impact on his current patients.

“I really like working at East Atlanta because I really feel like a part of the community,” Dr. Stalls says, “and I fit right in because it’s a very laid back group of people who live here.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

One of the things that’s always stocked in Dr. Stalls’ refrigerator is butter. “Butter,” he says, “makes everything better.”

If Dr. Stalls could bring together any four characters from history for the dinner party of his dreams, he would include two actors, a motivational speaker, and a talk show host. “Jack Lemmon is my all-time favorite actor, and Hugh Jackman is a versatile actor and all-around good guy,” he says. “Tony Robbins is unique, a powerful force of nature full of positive energy, and Ellen DeGeneres is a great light of love and acceptance -- and she’s hilarious.”

Dr. Stalls says one of the coolest things he has ever experienced was attending a performance at the the magic bar in Snowmass, Colo., before it closed down: “One of the best magicians in the world blew my mind right in front of me as I drank a Labatt Bleue in the beautiful snowy Rockies.”

Dr. Rebecca Saunders, D.C. is a Chiropractor at East Atlanta

Dr. Rebecca Saunders became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2022 when she began serving residents in the Atlanta area, where she does the work she finds so rewarding.

“The best thing about being in the chiropractic field is seeing a patient’s face light up after an adjustment and they realize their pain is gone,” she says. “I love being part of the patient’s health journey.”

Dr. Rebecca, as she is known to those patients, grew up in Macon and attended Gordon State College, where she received a bachelor’s degree in biology. She then earned her doctorate from Life University in Marietta, graduating with honors Magna Cum Laude.

Her husband, Isaac, is a 6-foot-7 Twitch streamer and they share a chow chow named Bear and a cat named Samus. Dr. Rebecca loves reading, hiking, and kickboxing.

“After seeing my mom suffer for years, I knew I wanted to help people like her get better,” she says. “I was inspired by my mom’s health journey as she turned to natural ways to heal her body. I heard about chiropractic at Life University’s open house weekend, and after listening to the testimonies of how chiropractic can facilitate healing, I knew this was the path for me.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

If she could bring together any four people from history for her ideal dinner party, Dr. Rebecca would break bread with Jim Carrey “because he’s Jim Carrey, Ricky Gervais because he would inevitably offend everyone at the party, Hugh Jackman because he would break into song and dance, and Ryan Reynolds, who would narrate the entire evening.”

One of the best stories Dr. Rebecca could tell her guests would be “that time I conquered the most dangerous hike in Georgia, Yonah Mountain.”

The one thing she always keeps in her refrigerator is oat milk creamer: “It makes drinking coffee a happier experience.”

Dr. Jacob Anderson, D.C. is a Chiropractor at East Atlanta

Dr. Jacob Anderson became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2021 when he began serving residents in Atlanta, where he continues doing the work he finds so rewarding.

“The best thing about working as a chiropractor is being able to help people get back to doing the things they love without pain or restriction,” he says. “I love how many different people I get to meet. People from so many diverse backgrounds frequently find their way into The Joint and it is so cool to see that, no matter how many differences people have, all of them will benefit from chiropractic care.”

Raised in Natchitoches, La., Dr. Anderson attended University of Louisiana at Monroe before going to Life University, where he graduated summa cum laude on his way to getting his doctorate of chiropractic. He worked previously in Marietta, Kennesaw, Alpharetta, and Cumming.

In his spare time, Dr. Anderson -- you can also call him Dr. Jacob -- enjoys spending time with friends, playing and watching sports, and being active.physically.

“I remember my first experience shadowing a chiropractor,” he says. “Nearly every patient who walked in the door was effusive in their praise for the doctor and the work he did in helping them get back to doing the things that were important to them or helping them avoid surgery. I knew then that I wanted to be in a field that could have this big of an impact on the quality of people’s lives.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

If he could bring together any four people from history for his ideal dinner party, Dr. Anderson would send invitations to assassinated San Francisco supervisor Harvey Milk, tennis superstar Serena Williams, singer Lady Gaga, and comedy writer Bowen Yang.

“They are all people who were, or are, successful in their respective fields but who have had different things they had to overcome to have their careers,” he says. “I just think there is so much I could learn from them about persevering when there was not necessarily someone like them who could serve as a role model or example of success.

Dr. Anderson says the one thing he always keeps stocked in his refrigerator is a carton of eggs: “They are delicious, but they are also very nutritious.and easy to prepare.” One of his favorite experiences took place in 2021 when “my friend and I were able to be in attendance when the Braves advanced to the World Series for the first time in over 20 years,” he says. “The collective excitement and energy in the stadium was unlike anything else I had experienced.”

Dr. Mercy Gonzalez-Perez, D.C. is a Chiropractor at East Atlanta

Dr. Mercy Perez joined The Joint Chiropractic in 2022 when she became part of the team at the Covington clinic location, where she does the rewarding work of helping people as their local healthcare provider.

“The best thing about this profession is that we are able to not only address neck pain and low back pain, but also we are looking for a different approach to address the nervous system and to achieve functional movement by assessing the subluxation,” she says. “The other great thing is that chiropractic has so many different routes to take to contribute to the community, sports chiropractic, prenatal and pediatric chiropractic, animal chiropractic, etc. -- all of the population that has a nervous system.”

Her patients call her Dr. Mercy, and she grew up in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She enjoys time at the beach and swimming in the ocean with her poodle named Bruno. She also likes using her free time for yoga, reading books, and binge watching TV shows.

She attended Interamerican University at Ponce, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences. She received her doctorate from Life University in Marietta, graduating with honors Magna Cum Laude.

“I have always known that I wanted to serve the community, I have always done community service, and while in undergrad I would always enjoy the health talks,” she says. “But I wanted to find a more holistic approach towards health and prevention, and that is when chiropractic found me, when its philosophy actually spoke to me during my first visit to the chiropractor back in Puerto Rico.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

Dr. Mercy says the one must-have in her refrigerator is almond milk: “I’ve got to have it first thing in the morning mixed with my coffee.”

If she could bring together any four people from history for her ideal dinner party, Dr. Mercy would include actors Jennifer Lopez and Will Smith, and singers Beyonce and Taylor Swift.

Among the coolest things she has ever done, Dr. Mercy played the role of Velma from the play “Chicago” and did a solo dance number in a high school performance of “All That Jazz.” “My parents didn’t know about it until I was out on the stage dancing,” she says. “All of my classmates knew and helped me cover until the day of the play, to the surprise of my parents.”
