Sarah Parsons became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2022 when she began serving residents in Terre Haute, where she continues doing the work she finds so rewarding.
“My favorite thing about being a chiropractor is being able to help people get better and find relief,” she says. “I love hearing people’s stories and backgrounds. People come from all over and I get to hear some really interesting things about them.”
Dr. Parsons grew up in the Evansville area and worked previously in Newburgh, as well as Huntsville, Ala., and Bowling Green, Ky.
A proud owner of a spunky goldendoodle named Willie that she loves to walk, Dr. Parsons loves reading and listening to audiobooks, and belongs to a book club. She also enjoys exercise, cooking and trying new recipes, and watching “The Bachelor” and its spinoffs.
She earned her doctorate from Logan University College of Chiropractic after having received her bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Indiana.”I am currently enrolled in a masters program for integrative pediatric chiropractic care,” Dr. Parsons says. “I love treating children and helping them. I have helped babies be able to breastfeed, helped with digestion, mood, and general sense of well-being. Treating children, newborns to age 18, is very rewarding.”
It was in her youth that she discovered chiropractic as her calling.
“I was a competitive dancer from a very young age and got started in chiropractic around the age of 12,” she says. “I fell in love with chiropractic then, and it has been a part of my life since.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
If she could bring together any four people from history for her ideal dinner party, Dr. Parsons would love to sit at the same table with singer Justin Bieber, President Abraham Lincoln, Indian activist Mahatma Gandhi, and gymnast Simone Biles.
One of her favorite books is Greenlights by actor Matthew McConaughey. “He has a very positive outlook on life and a lot of lessons to teach,” she says. “He had some hardships and I enjoyed reading about how he turned the hard parts of life into growth and opportunities. Even the yellow and red lights eventually turn green.”
One of the doctor’s favorite experiences was going to the Eiffel Tower with her family and watching the sunset over Paris. “I enjoy scenery and taking it all in,” she says, “looking at what the world has to offer.”
Some of her favorite advice comes from dance instructor Yvette Walts, who said, “Go the extra mile because it’s never crowded.”
Oreos are Dr. Parsons’ guilty pleasure.
Dr. Antonya Kelley, DC was born in Champaign, IL and raised in Gary, IN until her fifteenth birthday when she moved to Baton Rouge, LA. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University in December 2015. She also commissioned into the United States Army Reserve as a Second Lieutenant into the Medical Service branch in 2015. She is currently serving as the Operations Officer (S3) for a Medical Battalion (Multifunctional) in Seagoville, TX. Dr. Kelley then went on to earn her Master of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in May of 2019. It was at this point in her life when she was introduced to Chiropractic. She received a suggestion to explore the Chiropractic profession from fellow Officer and battle buddy Kioloni Readeaux and hasn’t looked back since. Dr. Kelley received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Parker University located in Dallas, TX in December of 2022.
Dr. Kelley was fortunate to have obtained a Chiropractic internship with the Indianapolis YMCA VA clinic through Parker University’s affiliation from August-November 2022 where she was able to provide Chiropractic care to Veterans with a multitude of health challenges. She was granted her Chiropractic license for the state of Indiana in January 2023 and landed her first Chiropractic job with The Joint Chiropractic in Terre Haute, Indiana. In Dr. Kelley’s opinion, the coolest thing about being a Chiropractor is being able to influence another person’s health and well-being by facilitating the natural healing processes of the body.
Dr. Kelley is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., has one daughter named Aniya, and one cat (he’s a Tabby) named Peeps. In her spare time, she loves to binge watch anime or read manga series. Her favorite all-time shows include none other than Inuyasha, Bleach, all the Dragon Ball series, Black Clover, Jujutsu Kaisen, and The Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime to name a few.
Dr. Kaleb Brown became part of The Joint Chiropractic family of local healthcare providers in 2023 when he joined the Terre Haute clinic location.
“I love being in an environment where people come for natural relief,” he says. “It is such a nice feeling to make a difference in the lives of many each day. The patients are always happy to come see the chiropractor and leave feeling better! One of the best things about being a chiropractor is putting the puzzle pieces together for the human body. Analyzing patients and figuring out which treatments will work best for them keeps me on my toes every day of the week.”
Originally from Charleston, Illinois, Dr. Kaleb, as his patients call him, worked in Mattoon, Ill. before moving to Terre Haute.
He and his wife, Lillian, were in the same kindergarten class. “We are both passionate about exercising, eating well, and raising a healthy family,” he says. “We love trying new restaurants and going to the gym together.”
The couple has four children -- three boys and a girl. “We like to spend time together playing board games, pickleball, and exploring nature together.”
Some of Dr. Kaleb’s favorite hobbies are seeking out new coffee shops, playing basketball, and mountain bike riding.
He has a bachelor of science degree from Eastern Illinois University in biology, where he was a pre-medical student. He earned a Doctorate in Chiropractic at Life University in Marietta, Ga.
“During high school football I endured a serious head and neck injury,” he says. “After being sent to neurologists all over the state and being told that I would need neck surgery at age 15, I found the most relief from chiropractic care. I never had surgery and I got to go back to doing what I loved. This was when I knew I wanted to do the same for others in my community.”
One of Dr. Kaleb’s most memorable experiences as a chiropractor involved treating a 5-year-old child who returned to wetting the bed again after successfully training and no longer needing Pull-Ups at night. “When I analyzed her lower back, there was a scratch directly over the segment of the spine that she needed adjusted,” he says. “As a chiropractor, I know that the nerves in this area are in control of the bladder and urinary system. After talking with her mother, I learned she had fallen into a bench and hit her lower back. We put together that when she fell, she started wetting the bed that night.
There was improvement after the first adjustment, and after three or four visits, her nighttime schedule went back to normal.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Kaleb always keeps his refrigerator stocked with a mix of fruits and greens. “It's a healthy way to get some fiber and curb a sugar craving with something healthy.” He also keeps chips and salsa on hand, “because it is my favorite snack of all time.”
If he could invite four famous people to the ideal dinner party, Dr. Kaleb would include Kobe Bryant, Adam Sandler, Joe Rogan, and Jim Rohn. “I think that this group is a great blend of comedy, excellence, and drive,” he says. “Kobe and Jim Rohn are both very motivational to me. Adam Sandler is hilarious and would keep the conversation interesting and not too serious. Joe Rogan is great at commentating and assisting others in sharing their message. I think we would have a great time together and it would also be productive.”
Dr. Kaleb’s greatest experience was becoming a father. “Nothing in life has assisted me in becoming the person that I want to be like becoming a father,” he says. “It is a humbling opportunity that I wouldn't trade for anything.”
The book Healthy Brain, Happy Life was a really good read, Dr. Kaleb says. “It goes into some of the neuroscience of memory and how it ties into exercise. Out of the many good books that I have read about health, this gave awesome lifestyle advice and practical applications to sharpen your memory and the health of your brain overall.”
