Meet The Doctors

Dr. Rowen Pfeifer, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Jackson

Dr. Rowen S. Pfeifer became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2019, and in 2021 became a franchise owner to serve residents in Belleview and Jackson.

“The best thing about being a chiropractor is helping patients regain their health and decrease their pain,” he says. “I love the virtually constant positive feedback we receive from patients on a daily basis. The response they give with the adjustment of almost every area is extremely rewarding.”

Dr. Rowen, as his patients call him, has practiced in the greater Nashville area since 1987. He grew up in Wisconsin loving sports and having the freedom to explore. He and his wife of more than four decades have two adult children and a bijon who loves to chase squirrels and deer in the yard. He likes to relax through music, which includes playing guitar, drums, and singing classic rock songs. In addition to working around the yard, he enjoys water skiing, snow skiing, and springboard and cliff diving.

Dr. Rowen graduated cum laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic, where he received his doctorate, after attending two years of pre-med at Middle Tennessee State. “I learned about chiropractic while searching for the principles of health and healing,” he says. “I ended up with an issue that required chiropractic care, the issue resolved, and a few years later I knew I wanted to be a chiropractor.”

One of Dr. Rowen’s most memorable successes as a chiropractor took place when he was caring for a family who had a son who was a 12-year-old bed-wetter. “They had tried many options, without success,” he says. “After a short time of receiving adjustments, the bed-wetting stopped. He stayed under maintenance care for years. At age 18, he was a passenger in a van that flipped over resulting in trauma to the low back and a return of the bed wetting. We saw him more frequently for a short time and again resolved the issue.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

If he could bring together any four people from history for his ideal dinner party, Dr. Rowen would love to sit down with Albert Einstein, Jesus Christ, and Biblical heroes Moses and Abraham. “Talking science with Einstein would be amazing, but talking to the others about faith, commitment, love, and how to hear the Father’s still small voice would be life-changing,” he says.

Dr. Rowen says the coolest thing he has ever done was step out and shake things up. “I left a dead-end job at age 20 to play what’s now known as classic rock ‘n’ roll full-time on the road for three years,” he says. “Until then, I had never traveled more than an hour from where I was born. The experience helped me grow up and learn a lot about myself.”

The items that Dr. Rowen always keeps stocked in his kitchen are organic fruits and vegetables. “They’re always on hand at home so that I can make fruit smoothies and huge salads that I enjoy most every day of the week,” he says.

Dr. Lance Alexander, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Jackson

Dr. Lance Alexander began his journey as a local healthcare provider at The Joint Chiropractic in 2021, but it wasn’t until 2022 that he joined the Jackson clinic location to continue doing the work he finds so rewarding.

“The best thing about being in the chiropractic field is when people get on the table in pain, but they get off the table in no pain or less pain,” he says. “I love helping patients’ bodies heal on their own.”

Dr. Lance, as his patients call him, is a product of Jackson and worked previously in Clarksville, Tenn. When he is not working, he likes sports, and particularly enjoys being on the lake “or any body of water.”

He earned his doctorate from Logan University in Chesterfield, Mo. He previously received his bachelor’s of science in exercise science from University of Tennessee-Martin.

“I hurt my back playing intramural flag football in college, and when I went to the chiropractor for the first time, he explained the philosophy of helping the body heal itself, and that really resonated with me,” he says. “I really enjoy every day seeing patients get on the table visibly in pain, but seeing the relief and joy in their faces after the adjustment. It really keeps me going.”

He could not be happier working in Jackson. “I’m born and raised in the area so I feel as though I’m contributing to the community by helping everyone with their aches and pains so that they can enjoy their daily lives more,” he says.

In Case You Didn’t Know

If he could bring together any people from history together for his ideal dinner party, Dr. Lance would geek out. “I’m actually a huge nerd, so I would invite people who were once at the heads of their fields in science, people like Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, Plato, Imhotep, Confucius, Stephen Hawking, and other people like that,” he says. “I would like to pick their brains to see what, exactly, sparked their minds to come up with some of the ideas that led to their major breakthroughs or particular thought processes.”

The one thing he always keeps stocked in his refrigerator “may sound cliche,” but it’s water: “Staying hydrated is so important for all bodily processes.”

Dr. Justin James, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Jackson

Dr. Justin James became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2023 and in 2024 he became lead chiropractor in Jackson, continuing the work he finds so rewarding.

“Chiropractors have the unique ability to treat the cause of a patient's symptoms. Most other professions simply focus on the symptoms themselves,” he says. “Chiropractic, when used properly, can be life-changing for those dealing with issues where they have gotten little to no help elsewhere.

Dr. Justin, as his patients call him, really enjoys the one-on-one engagement and getting to know each patient. “I feel like this is an imperative, but often missing, piece in most healthcare fields,” he says. “You cannot truly help a patient if you do not really know them.”

Originally from Memphis, Dr. Justin was the son of a chiropractor. “Although our treatment styles vary somewhat now, seeing my dad have the ultimate goal of truly helping others was what really led me to the chiropractic field,” he says.

He and his wife, Megan, have a blended family with five children – four daughters and one son. The family has two dogs – a Dutch shepherd named Valkyrie and a Belgian Malinois named Reign.

When he’s not seeing patients, Dr. Justin enjoys weightlifting, K-9 training, and traveling.

He earned a Doctorate of Chiropractic at Logan University in Chesterfield, Mo. “It’s rewarding to be able to help those who have not found help elsewhere,” he says, “and to see the tears of joy, the hugs, and the pure happiness of getting help.”

One of Dr. Justin’s most unique experiences was working with the University of Memphis Athletic Department, treating athletes from various sports teams. Working with residents of Jackson is special to him. “I love the closeness of Jackson,” he says. “The members here are truly like a large family.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

Dr. Justin always has water, Coca-Cola, and good ol’ sweet tea in his refrigerator.

If he designed the ideal dinner party with four famous guests, Dr. Justin would invite Michael Jordan, Nick Saban, Matthew McConaughey, and Peyton Manning.

The greatest experience for Dr. Justin was serving his country as a member of the 3rd Special Forces Group. “The experiences I had with this group changed my outlook on life,” he says.

His favorite book is Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey.

If he wrote an autobiography, he would entitle it: It is what it is until you change it.

If he was asked to give advice to someone else, Dr. Justin would say, “Just keep working. No one is coming to save you, so just keep pushing.”
