Dr. John Mellen joined our team in May 2023 at The Joint Chiropractic - Clift Farm and The Joint Chiropractic - Decatur AL. Dr. John was raised in Atlanta, GA. He attended Birmingham-Southern College where he obtained his Bachelor’s of Health Sciences. After graduating, he moved back to Atlanta to attend Life University and pursue his dream of becoming a chiropractor. He graduated in March 2023 with his Doctorate of Chiropractic and moved to Madison, AL to begin his career at The Joint Chiropractic.

Dr. John first became interested in the field of chiropractic during high school. During his baseball seasons, he began having severe back pain due to a spinal disorder. Chiropractic care was the only treatment that helped alleviate his pain and allowed him to keep playing. By receiving consistent chiropractic care, he was able to continue his baseball career in high school and even played in college. His discovery of the power of chiropractic care inspired him to become a chiropractor so that he could give back to the community by providing relief to patients so they can keep doing the things they love.

When asked what he loves most about working at The Joint Chiropractic, Dr. John responded “It feels like one big family.” He loves practicing at both our Madison and Decatur locations because they provide a variety of patients and different complaints. His favorite thing about being in the chiropractic field is helping people regain function and live to their fullest potential.

If Dr. John could have dinner with any four famous people, dead or alive, he would choose Bobby Jones, Bing Crosby, Hank Williams Sr, and Hank Aaron. Being a former baseball player, he would love to discuss the love of the game and how the game has evolved over time. Hank Williams Sr is one of his favorite singers and a native Alabamian. Dr. John would love to listen to Hank play his music and talk about the journey of his career.

Dr. Defalco knew becoming a chiropractor was her calling after she injured her back while playing basketball in middle school and was taken to see a chiropractor because of the pain she was in. “After one adjustment I was able to walk out of the office, and from then on I knew I needed to learn more about this profession and be able to help people like my Chiropractor helped me,” Dr. Defalco said. “One of the best things about being in the Chiropractic field is being able to improve people’s function and mobility. Dr. Yalitzaly “Yali” Ramos, DC joined our team in March 2026 at The Joint Chiropractic – Clift Farm and Decatur, AL. Originally from Isabela, Puerto Rico, Dr. Yali brings a passion for natural healing, patient education, and whole-body wellness to the communities she serves.

Dr. Yali attended the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with an emphasis on health sciences and human behavior in 2013. Her passion for understanding how the mind and body work together led her to pursue a career in chiropractic. She later attended chiropractic school, graduating in 2023 with her Doctor of Chiropractic degree, and began practicing in the Atlanta, Sandy Springs, and Marietta, Georgia areas before joining The Joint Chiropractic team in Alabama.

Dr. Yali discovered her calling to chiropractic while working at Circo Nacional de Puerto Rico, a nonprofit organization that serves communities through movement and creative workshops. During that time, she realized she wanted to help people on a deeper level through health and healing. After visiting chiropractic school, she knew she had found the perfect path. As she explains, “It felt like an extension and the next level of the work I was already doing—helping people improve their lives through movement and wellness.”

When asked what she loves most about being a chiropractor, Dr. Yali says, “I love being able to serve as a conduit in the restoration of health by supporting the body’s natural ability to heal and by addressing the root cause rather than the symptoms.” She also enjoys helping patients better understand their bodies and take an active role in their healing journey. “I enjoy educating and empowering patients so they can participate in their own health and wellness.”

Dr. Yali enjoys working at The Joint Chiropractic in Madison and Decatur because of the welcoming environment and the strong sense of community.
