Dr. Aaron Shakarian, D.C. began as an All-State Athlete and went on to play college football during his undergraduate program at Grand Valley State University in Michigan, which recently became the winningest program in college football history. He was inspired to pursue the profession of chiropractic after experiencing relief from multiple sports injuries and went on to graduate with honors from Life University in Marietta, GA with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree.
After graduation Dr. Shakarian opened private practices in his hometown of Livonia, MI and then Beverly Hills, CA where he was also an on-call doctor for TV and movie productions. When his first daughter was born, Dr. Shakarian decided to sell his Beverly Hills practice and relocate to family-friendly Chandler, AZ. His first year in AZ was spent working for The Joint Chiropractic’s corporate office and he believed in the brand so much that he purchased multiple franchises in the greater PHX market!
Over the years of Dr. Shakarian’s vast experience he has perfected multiple techniques to relieve those suffering with upper and lower back pain, neck pain, sciatica, severe migraines, vertigo, arthritis, sports injuries and several other ailments. He frequently treats patients of all ages who range from infants to senior citizens.
When Dr. Shakarian isn’t educating the community on the benefits of chiropractic care, he’s busy working out at the gym, golfing, and enjoying every sunny AZ day with his wife, Stacie and their two young daughters.
Dr. Zachary Homer originates in a small town in eastern Washington and moved to Gilbert, Arizona when he was 14 years old. Dr. Homer finished his bachelor’s of science degree at Palmer College. He then went on to get his doctorate at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 2016.
After graduating, Dr. Homer worked at a chronic pain clinic in Scottsdale Arizona for 3 years until Dr. Homer joined The Joint in July 2019. He has been around chiropractic his whole life and enjoys sharing the benefits of chiropractic with others.
Since his journey started in the chiropractic field he has learned to deal with many different types of dysfunction as in sciatic, low back, neck, mid back or extremity pain. He knows that you have to tailor the treatment to the patient, whether that is the young or old or any where in-between. He has also been a patient of chiropractic care his whole life because he understands how important spine and nervous system health is to living a long and pain free life.
When Dr. Homer is not in the office helping people, he likes to go to sporting events, road trips, golf, spending time with his family and spending time outside when the weather allows it.
Dr. Jason Gemmer joined the family of local healthcare providers at The Joint Chiropractic in 2020 when he joined the staff of the Chandler-Ahwatukee clinic location. He focused on kinesiology en route to his bachelor’s degree in physical education at University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta Canada, and then got his doctorate of chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic West Campus in San Jose, Calif.
“The most gratifying part of being in this field is being able to help patients enjoy a better quality of life through conservative care without surgery or medication,” he says. “I love networking with like-minded healthcare practitioners for the overall health of the patients.”
Dr. Jason, as his patients call him, grew up in Las Vegas while also spending his summers in Tucson with his family. He worked in San Jose before settling into the Chandler area.
He has a pitbull/bull terrier mix named Loki and a dalmadoodle named Beefie. In his spare time, Dr. Jason enjoys tennis, martial arts, boxing, and yoga.
His involvement with athletes led to his involvement in chiropractic. “I was a strength and conditioning coach for amateur and professional boxers and mixed martial arts fighters,” he says. “After being part of many injuries for my athletes, I knew I wanted to be able to offer them a holistic approach to performance.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Jason says the one thing that he always keeps stocked at his home are blueberries. “They’re filled with antioxidants, and they’re yummy,” he says.
If he could bring together any four characters from history for the dinner party of his dreams, he would send invitations to boxer Mike Tyson, Western hero Doc Holliday, basketball player Michael Jordan, and martial arts icon Bruce Lee. “I would include Tyson and Jordan because of my love for boxing and basketball, and Doc Holliday because he’s my favorite character from the old westerns. I would love to talk to Bruce Lee so that I could pick his brain on how to be awesome.”
Dr. Jason drove a limo in Las Vegas, and it was one of the most interesting things he has done. “I drove for 10 years, and in that time, I got to meet some very inspirational individuals,” he says.
“The people that I drove for inspired me to reach for my dreams and goals. From CEOs of Fortune 500 companies to professional athletes, their advice to fight my own fight is what made me pursue my dreams and become a doctor of chiropractic.”
Dr. Jordan Odle became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2020 when she began serving residents of suburban Phoenix in the Tempe Marketplace and Chandler clinic locations. By doing so, she is able to continue doing the work that she finds so gratifying.
“The best thing about being in the chiropractic field is helping people to feel better when they never thought they would,” she says. “I love feeling a sense of purpose and joy from what I do.”
Dr. Odle grew up in Los Altos, Calif, and worked in the southern California city of Thousand Oaks before moving to Arizona.
She and wife Kenzie have two dogs, a pug named Mango and French bulldog named Kona. The doctor loves the outdoors and doing CrossFit to stay in shape; in her spare time she also enjoys learning more about nutrition and chiropractic care.
She got a bachelor’s degree in biology from Channel Islands (Calif.) State University, and her doctorate of chiropractic from Palmer College West in San Jose. Her areas of emphasis included functional neurology, receptor therapy, cranial therapy, sacro-occipital technique, and nutrition.
“I knew chiropractic was my calling when I was in my undergrad doing pre-med and started working with a chiropractor and realized I could heal without having to be invasive or give people drugs,” Dr. Odle says. “I loved how hands-on it was.”
She is excited to be where she is today, helping people naturally. “I like working at The Joint because it allows me to work on more people than if I was in private practice,” she says. “It’s really gratifying to help people.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Odle says the one thing she always keeps stocked in her refrigerator is heavy cream: “It makes my coffee taste amazing!”
If any four people from history could attend the dinner party of her dreams, Dr. Odle would include Jesus, and baseball players Aaron Judge, Jack Wilson, and Kole Calhoun. “I enjoy baseball and could have a great conversation for hours with them,” she says. No doubt, it would be nice to know the savior’s opinion of the designated hitter.
Dr. Odle could certainly talk about the most interesting few days of her life. “The coolest thing I have ever done is a horse backpacking trip above Yosemite in the back country for five days,” she says. “I got to see so many beautiful lakes and scenery that most people will never get to see.”
