⭐ 1-Star Review Very disappointed with our experience at this location. My husband came in for an adjustment, and I called ahead of time specifically to ask about the wait. We were told there was no wait, so we decided to come in. Unfortunately, after arriving, we ended up waiting 30 minutes or more. What made the experience even more frustrating was watching several people arrive after us and get called back before my husband. I went up to the front desk to ask when he would be seen, and we were reassured that he was next. However, shortly after that, they called another patient instead. At that point, we felt like we were being completely overlooked. There was also a woman at the front desk who appeared to be a manager or supervisor (I don’t know her exact position). She was spending a significant amount of time talking with another person instead of following up with the doctor or checking on the patients who had already been waiting. We eventually became so frustrated that we walked out without my husband ever being seen. I honestly chose this location because of the great reviews, so this experience was especially disappointing. I understand that businesses can get busy and that waits can happen, but telling us there was no wait, making us wait over 30 minutes, repeatedly telling us we were next, and then continuing to call other people ahead of us is not acceptable customer service. Hopefully management addresses the way patients are being checked in and prioritized, because this experience felt extremely unprofessional and left a very bad first impression.

I usually don’t mind a blunt doctor but Dr. Kevin Malone has no bedside manner, I merely said that I couldn’t afford to get regular visits and went on to berate me for not being able to visit more. I’m financially struggling at the moment and decided to treat myself to an adjustment anyway because my lower back was killing me after work, first of all I didn’t choose this doctor I chose another doctor but I wasn’t going to complain. I should’ve corrected them…it was the worst adjustment of my life, I’ve been to this Joint in the past and had great results but today I’m down $55 dollars and felt horrible after my adjustment.

Dr. Hines is wonderful! He does a great job adjusting me. I have arthritis from several old, old injuries, but I feel so much better after going to The Joint. Iv been a joint member before but this location is the best iv been to. I came in with a pinched nerve in my shoulder and neck and dr. First my husband and I we get a kick out of this guys. 1 they take care of us and 2 we get to laugh and feel pain at the same time. We go in with pain and leave with out. Especially me. I think most people have an idea in their mind on how things should go , or anticipate ! When I arrived the receptionists welcomed me , all of them , great energy in the office , I was back to see my Doctor in about 30 seconds , he asked some medical questions to diagnose me . Friendly front desk staff with an inviting waiting area and clean facility. I’ve seen multiple chiropractors but I’m favorable to Dr. Kevin. I’ve been getting aliments since I was in high school and have had different DC and treatment plans some styles of adjustments I’m not a fan of or don’t feel positive results. You just need to advocate for yourself on what has been successful or what hasn’t and be transparent about your financial commitments. Any business will always discuss suggestive sales that’s how they can stay in above their competitors. Your care for your body is an investment and i feel their plans and payment options are reasonable especially if you dont have medical benefits that cover speciality services. A copay, if it is covered, could range from $20-50 per visit with a limit typically 12-30 per year. Do your research, is it a good fit for what your body needs. thank you The Joint Downey!

I’ve been to several joint locations and this is by far my favorite one. They have an amazing group starting with the girls at the front desk. The doctors are the best. To find a location where multiple doctors are great is a SCORE. I was always scared going to the chiro but these chiros are very professional, know exactly how much pressure to use, and always leave me feeling great. I had suffered from severe back pain and wasn’t able to run without running in pain. Now, I feel so much better and will be running the LA Marathon this weekend. I have worked with all the doctors. They all have their special techniques that are great! However, with my condition, it is too painful for me with the standard way that they practice. I require more specialized treatment. Dr. Kristina is very skilled and does a great job listening and applying the right treatment in the time allowed. About ten mins. Dr.Himes is spectacular! TRIED AND TRUE TREATMENT RESULTS AFTER THE FIRST SESSION! The Holy Grail! My back and foot pain has disappeared. I no longer suffer from headaches. I do not recommend this spot. Me and my husband went in for lower back pain and tailbone pain. And they recommended we went in multiple times, so we got the monthly plan after two visits. We felt worse. I now have upper back pain and elbow pain. To me it seems like they mess you up worse so you can keep going. These should be a once or twice thing not weekly. They just tried to milk you for money

I enjoyed every adjustment I have received. My back and neck are definitely feeling much better from uncomfortable pain level of the 8 out of 10 to a bearable 3 out of 10. The place is clean .The staff is friendly.. You Don't need an appointment thats the best part for me since i have a crazy schedule and its always changing. Every chiropractor has there own touch at the joint. I would say try all The chiropractors each one is amazing. The price is reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place. Ive refered friends to The Joint as a whole since i started going because of my experience at Downey The Joint. First went in for an initial adjustment for some neck and back pain, they gave me a consultation and adjustment and have been feeling great since! The doctors were very friendly and welcoming, and made me feel comfortable. However, the receptionist that checked me out, gave me an attitude because I did not want to sign up for the membership she made the comment saying “ well, you’re just going to spend more money paying for single visits but OK” with a complete attitude. Her tone went from nice to completely rude. But I bet if I would have signed up I would have been treated differently. That is not how you make sale's. Wrong approach. All it made me do is to never want to go back and I won’t . And to management- maybe redirect your staff on how to properly and respectfully respond if someone just isn’t interested in getting a membership!

Absolutely incredible experience!! Can't recommend this place enough; receptionists are very nice and professional. They were really kind about me needing to change my appointment a day before, asked me all the necessary questions and were friendly all around! I'm glad our family friends recommended us to try The Joint. The first day already made a difference, so I signed up the entire family for the monthly plan. I should have thought about this decades ago instead of accupuncture. We're pretty active, so any additional movements will help. The staff at Downey are more than great. I've used chiropractic care off and on for 30+ years when I "needed it", like after an accident or injury. Similar to how people take vitamin C when they are sick instead of maintaining a diet rich in vitamin C all year long". Finally, I realized that I should be taking care of myself even when it doesn't feel like I "need it". I've been coming to The Joint Downey for 5+ years. The plan that I am on allows four adjustments/month, no appointment necessary, for a price comparable to what I used to pay for a single visit. For me, that is a good value. Even though chiropractic care is not covered by my insurance, I am able to afford good regular care. I have had good experiences with all of the doctors here. They each use slightly different methods, but I always have good results. I do have my favorite doctors. Dr. Kevin and Dr. Himes are outstanding and their schedule is regular. My new favorite is Dr. Kristina. She seems to have a sports medicine background and uses stretches that really help with my mobility/range of motion issues stemming from an old sports injury.

Dr. Kevin, Dr. Himes and for the most part ALL of them are great… BUT!!! More often than not it feels as if the “adjustment” is a little too short, or they rush through it. I totally understand this is basic Chiropractic practice vs. a more expensive, full hour or so kinda deal we signed for, but… My two cents, because you asked! ;)

The staff is friendly, and the chiropractors are wonderful. Would definitely recommend to get a package deal purchase, it’s worth it. You can drop in whenever they are open, you don’t need an appointment. That’s the flexibility that fits my busy schedule. Dr. Hein’s is my favorite, he’s gentle and exceptional!

Hesitant to see a new doctor, I was very happy to see Dr. Cristina today. I came in for extreme discomfort in the neck for the last two days and she listened to every single hurt I had in my body. She clearly knows what she’s doing and proved me wrong. The discomfort in my joints and the tightness in my muscles was felt throughout her head to toe assessment and she did a thorough adjustment I couldn’t be more happy with, definitely look forward to getting by her in the near future.

Dr. Heims was very nice to me. I used the youth wellness plan and it is a good plan for your child the price is 49 a month and I’m going tell you something it’s a really good plan that plan is very cheap so if your child needs a “stretch” you need that plan. If you want your child, to have a good “stretch“, also If you’re new and you are scared of getting “stretched” go to Dr. Himes because he will talk it through while he’s giving you the “stretch”.

Anyone who steps foot in here will agree with this review, this place deserves more stars than a review allows us to put. Amazing doctors, and ladies at the front desk. THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT NEW PATIENTS. I setup an appointment for my fiancé on a Sunday @ 2:30 p.m. She’s been dealing with really bad back problems and was hoping this would help. She was in pain going to this place hoping to get some relief. She showed up and the office was closed. It opened @ 2:40 and once in, they kept taking in other walk in patients before her. It was over 50 minutes and still no help. She had to leave over how frustrated she was. Terrible place. Do not go here if you’re looking for a chiropractor. They favor their existing customers over new ones.

Just sharing my experience…. The chiropractors are excellent. They get the job done and guaranteed to walk out smiling. Administration needs improvement. Called to cancel days before processing payments and they made me go in which I couldn’t due to vacation. They emailed me form but I never received email. Why couldn’t they just cancel over a phone call in the first place? I went in after my vacation and processed payment (the payment I was trying to avoid in the first place) and they would not give a refund. Be cautious what you subscribe to

Never had an issue with the chiropractors. The issue was when I wanted to cancel my plan. About 3 months ago I went in wanting to cancel my plan and my wife's. Both under my credit card. The lady helping me didn't want to cancel my plan and was very pushy. After being tired of going back an forth, I decided to freeze my account, which is what she pushed me to do. Fast forward to yesterday...I go in to cancel again because frankly right now it's an expense that I cant afford. When I go in, I am first told that I can't cancel my wife's plan, that she has to come in in-person even thought it's under my credit card. I straight up told them that my wife will not come in because she will not want to deal with employees because she knows they're going to push her into keeping the membership. To top it all off I was also told that they couldn't cancel mine either because it was frozen and that I would have to wait until it's reactivated. I told the employees that I wanted to cancel before my account reactivated because I didn't want to pay another month. They said "the system" wouldn't allow them to cancel my plan. So now I have to wait to be charged before I am able to cancel my plan. I will definitely not be coming back as they are forcing me to pay for another month before I can cancel.

This message is directly to the manager Anthony. Sounds like you’re not listening to what the bad reviews are telling you. Which is your Reception. It’s not one, but both I’ve seen there. And it’s true, they are incompetent. They don’t have any knowledge of what they are selling. They lecture you for reasons why you should keep coming but that should be the Chiros job. They are on personal calls and totally ignore customers waiting to ask questions or be checked in. Take the time to train them, because looks like they are not going anywhere. They need to be more sympathetic and more attentive to your customers. Customer service is everything! Everyone has bad days I know. You keep replying this to people, but every time I go, it seems like a bad day. The doctors are wonderful. Don’t let reception ruin the customer/doc relationships. Spoke to a rep over the phone about coming in. She took my name down and gave me prices, but she did not ask me if I was in a recent car accident. This rep tells me to just come in, so I ended up going the following day. I get there and a different rep immediately asks me if I was in an accident, I had been in a small accident the previous year but nothing came of it. They denied seeing me because the doctor could lose their license if I were to take my case to court. I kept telling them I wasn't going to take my case to court but they still refused to see me. The original rep should have initially asked me over the phone instead of wasting my time. The second rep didn't even ask me for my name. This company needs to make their front desk reps ask new patients this question over the phone instead of making people waste their time by walking in.

The lobby area is very inviting. Receptionist Crystal is very friendly and punctual on checking patients in. Both chiropractors are amazing at what they do and I trust them as I usually have to go twice to three times a week. Being a former gymnast my body does need maintenance. You could say it requires high maintenance. I love this facility and I wouldn’t go anywhere else

The receptionist at this location is the outmost most unprofessional receptionist at any Joint location. She is not fit to be the front image of the Joint and has the poorest of customer service skills. As a receptionist, you have to be welcoming, show empathy, be of service and willing to help a patient at all times. She doesn’t. The doctors here are great especially Dr. Himes, but it is a shame that the image you get prior to seeing the doctor is someone that gives off such a bad vibe. On top of that, she gives you wrong information and doesn’t abide by the standards of the joint when you are given your free passes as a new member. I had gotten a youth membership for my daughter and after her 4th visit she tried using her pass and the receptionist is told her she couldn’t use it with out giving her a clear explanation. If they aren’t going to be able to use them, then why even offer them. I highly recommend people to go to the Lakewood location where the receptionist there is absolutely amazing! Always welcoming, always smiling, and super nice. This receptionist needs to get some pointers for her. I live in Downey, but will not hesitate to take the extra drive to q place where I can be granted some optimal customer service.

I love going to The Downey Joint Chiropractic I always get treated well and the chiropractor's are great. I'm happy that Dr. Himes returned to work, he is great chiropractor and I have missed him when he was out on medical leave. What I like about Dr. Himes that he is patience and listen to my concern of my pain. I always have pain from my neck, shoulder, mid back and lower back. Dr. Himes focus on my whole back and neck to get the relief I need and spend more time on the are that need more attention. When he can't get my pain leave, he always tells me to come back the second time same day (depends what time I went to get adjusted) and he always tell me to ice it in the the are I have pain. When I get adjusted second time with Dr. Himes I get a lot more relief. The girls up front office are great team and always help with my concern. thursday 10/8 i came in around 5:30 and the lady was on the phone when she realized i was not a returning customer she said oh and hung up the phone. she would not let the dr see me because i do not live locally and was not interested in purchasing a package just an initial visit. mind u i am in excruciating pain. & needed this emergency visit. granted if i would have liked the doctor i would have totally signed up. i wasn’t opposed to it, just the pressure to make decisions when all i feel is pain and want relief made it difficult. i called the lakewood office and they assured me they would act professionally and get me the help i needed. also, they are corporate the lakewood office. so they hold true to joint standards. unlike the downey office. i’ve been to many chiropractors for almost 20 years. to work at a chiro office you need to be compassionate about people not about money.

They are really scammers , I cancelled with them about 6 months ago and they still withdrawing my ATM when i went to them to make a cancellation they returned me to long beach branch he told i can not cancel i asked to send them an email or cancellation notify by your system they said No and after me they subscribed to another person ... they really unhelpful for your health and your money they just using you.. cracking your body without x-rays and collecting a huge money for it

The receptionist told me the first time I need to come in before 530 to get seen as a new patient so I come back before 530 and the excuse is that they've already accepted 2 new patients and aren't accepting anymore they have a whole website where they could list these issues how is this place even an essential business if they can't serve the people with back issues idk maybe they just didn't want to serve me that's entirely possible check out Dr Fox in Downey much better much more responsive receptionist and he does a great job not sure how these people at the joint stay in business turning away customers with different excuses everyday

Receptionist Jessica, was amazing and provided excellent customer service.. she went above, and beyond to explain things thoroughly. Definitely recommend Dr. Del Río. Called to confirm if walk-ins where welcomed before arriving. The receptionist answered and asked if I was a previous patient and I replied I wasn’t a member. She put me on hold for more than 10 min. I hanged up and tried calling back several times and no one answered.

Wow, I’ve never felt so much better after being adjusted. I’ve been in and out of the ER consistently these past few months due to lower back pain and muscle spasms but I definitely want to thank Dr. Hines for actually listening to my concerns and helping me. Also, shoutout to Crystal at the front desk for being so sweet, relatable and giving me additional information for the wellness plans!

Great Spot! The Chiropractors at this particular location are highly skilled and the front desk people are pretty helpful. However, they recently changed their front desk seating to these hard clear seats and I must say that is a HORRIBLE DECISION for people who come in with constant back problems. Hard seats with no lumbar support is absolutely abysmal if you have to wait more than 10 minutes which is normally the case. Please bring back the comfortable seating! If I didn’t actually really need the adjustment I would have left out of the mere fact that sitting on a hard chair really doesn’t help my back issues.

I went in with so much stiffness and pain in my neck and shoulder that lasted 4 days and walked out feeling AMAZING! Dr. Del Rio and the lady at the front desk were so polite, professional, and patient with me. I couldn't move my head in any direction without pain and as soon as I got up off the bench I felt better! I'm sold! I'd gone to chiropractors before and I always felt really nauseous afterwards and this time I didn't at all! Thank you!

Went in for back and neck pain and was brought in rite away they reset bothe neck and back felt great afterwards . Brought up that I injured my shoulder not thinking anything about it and was told that they could reset the muscles . They worked on me and before I came in I had really bad pain annd was not able to lift arm . Pain was relieved and motion was restored . Great job would recommend them to all my friends , great job people Scott Rotter

I couldn't raise my right arm due to shoulder pain. After being treated by Dr. Hines(Downey, Ca) on my First visit, I was able to raise my arm up!!! I had complete use and without pain after three sessions!! Also have three herinated discs that he relieved my pain and was able to Walk in upright position when I left the office!! Thank you so much Dr. HINES for the home exercises you showed me for my shoulder and low back. Your the Best! George, at the front desk is Awesome. Thank you for convincing me to have a membership!!

Came in for walk in, front lady was rude and told me to wait and sit down. I waited, she handed me forms to fill out. I filled them out, then waited, and waited, and more customers came in the door and got attended before me. It was almost an hour before I finally get attended and didn't even address my discomfort I disclosed on the forms. Without good customer service, this place is done.. Can't recommend it with rude customer service.

They do not give you enough information when sinning up the membership. HEADS UP! They will have to charge you twice before even canceling the membership. They did not disclose that with me. They just say you can cancel any time "no fee" but didn't mention you they have to charge you twice! Best advice is to go somewhere else!

I was a walk in and asked for the $29 session I saw on the window. I knew it was a scam when the front desk associate dismissed my request and began lecturing me about chiropractic care. She stated that the price in the window is how much my visits would be if I bought the premium package. What's more is that the chiropractor at that location showed less customer service. With every chiropractic package expiring within a month and not after the visits are used, it's not worth it for a person with a busy schedule. The reason I give only 1 star is because rather than empathizing with me, the front desk associate began to lecture me on how I couldn't cancel my "membership" until I paid for another package. Yes, you automatically get locked into a membership once you pay for a package. If you don't personally walk in to cancel, your credit card is billed every month till you do so. Also, you will not be allowed to cancel until you pay. This is definitely a class action lawsuit waiting to happen. My advice, hire people that know how to retain customers rather than make you feel like your making some back alley deal. I mean the front desk associate doesn't even take pride in her appearance.

I was having really bad back pain and sciatic pain. I came in for an alignment and felt better immediately. Part of my pain turned out to be my left hip being out of alignment. Loved it. Quick and easy and felt better instantly.
