Dr. Jonathan Followill -- you can call him Dr. Jon -- got a bachelor’s degree in athletic training at Bethany College before taking possession of his doctorate from Texas Chiropractic College in 2017. He brings excellent knowledge of health and physical exercise to his role at the Northgate location of The Joint Chiropractic, where he is part of The Joint’s network of local chiropractors.
“The best thing about being in the chiropractic field is getting to talk to people and helping them with their problem,” Dr. Jon says. “The other thing that I really enjoy is getting a chance to give information to my patients and educate them on something that may make their lives a little better.”
He and wife Rachel, whom he met as a freshman in college, share a love for their hound dog, Captain. In his spare time, Dr. Jon enjoys mountain biking, camping, and disc golf.
A product of Newalla, Okla., Dr. Jon previously worked in Houston before landing in Colorado Springs, where he knows without question what he loves most about working at The Joint Northgate: “The patients, the patients, the patients!”
Like many of his patients, it was an injury that led Dr. Jon into the chiropractic field after a number of other more conventional healthcare options had failed him. “Chiropractic was my last resource after getting hurt in rugby, and the doc did such a simple thing to fix it,” he says. “I thought to myself, ‘If it was so simple, why did no one else do it?’”
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Jon says the one thing he absolutely must have stocked in his kitchen is peanut butter, although he would likely opt for something a bit more grown up to serve at a dream dinner with his ideal dinner party from history.
Given the opportunity, he would like to sit down with English prime mInister and statesman Winston Churchill, President John F. Kennedy, businessman and philanthropist Warren Buffett, and author J.R.R. Tolkien.
“I would like to know where Churchill got his inspiration from, and what JFK’s plan for America would be if he had not died,” he says. “I would ask Warren Buffett what is happiness in his eyes, and I’d ask Tolkien how he came up with this world of fantasy in the middle of a war.”
Of course, Dr. Jon might be asked by his dinner guests to describe the coolest thing he has ever done. There’s no question what his answer would be.
“In an anatomy class, I got the opportunity to dissect the spinal cord and brain and hold it in my hands,” he says. “It was so light and so much smaller than I thought it would be. I had a thought that I am holding the only thing to have named itself.”
