Dr. Sam Scott graduated from Indiana University. In pre-med, majoring in biology and Latin, he was a published research biologist. During his junior year, by the inspiration of some of his athlete friends, he ventured into IU’s Health and Science Career Office and discovered chiropractic. He found his purpose-driven life in the profession that centers around health and wellness. Living in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago, he attended National University of Health Sciences. He served as class president and completed his internship at NUHS Chicago General, in downtown Chicago. He would go on to open his own practice, Pure Wellness. His focus is diversified technique.
As an only child, he became his mother’s full-time primary caregiver while she had an unexpected long, brave battle with stage 4 breast cancer. Using his culinary skills as a trained chef and his extensive background in nutrition, he took care of his mom’s life with love until her passing. Upon moving back to Florida two years ago, he chose to live in Clearwater.
Living a life of sports on a personal level, Dr. Sam can truly relate to most patient’s injuries. In his younger years, he was a sponsored skateboarder, touring America in competitions. He enjoys a healthy, active lifestyle with everything from tennis and golf to surfing and snowboarding. In his relaxing time, Dr. Sam enjoys cooking, reading, and oil painting.
“Your body is an organic machine that, with regular chiropractic wellness care, can truly perform at it’s finest.”

Dr. Michael Ward is a North Carolina Triad native who worked as a professional bodywork therapist since 2004 and as a yoga practitioner since 2001. He initially graduated from UNC-G, completed the professional massage therapy program from GTCC a few years later, attended Daoist Traditions College for Chinese Medical Arts, and most recently graduated from National University of Health Sciences with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree.
As an evidence-based natural physician rooted in functional medicine and yoga therapy, Dr. Michael treats the whole patient, considering nutrition and lifestyle choices to determine root-causes of imbalance, pain, and disease. Due to his extensive Hatha Yoga background, Dr. Michael provides unique yoga-integrated approaches to treatment and rehabilitation. Fifteen years of neuromuscular massage therapy trained his hands to put patients at ease while releasing myofascial tension. This diverse background yields an integration of western and eastern approaches to acupuncture and monofilament needling. Above all else, Michael is dedicated to helping patients embrace their limitations as opportunities to transform and grow. His guiding principle is to help patients navigate the inevitabilities of body pains that need not lead to suffering.
On the home front, Michael enjoys time with his husband Roger, their champion miniature schnauzer dogs, playing saxophones, healthy gourmet & pellet grill smoker cooking, international travel, and a deep appreciation for the arts in general. He loves practicing yoga in nature, growing his own food, camping, boating, swimming, hiking, reading, and is a huge Star Trek fan.
Dr. Joshua Ubbes was born and raised in southwestern Ohio. Participating in sports was a major part of his life growing up. As a third generation gymnast in the family, he competed at a high level and was an Ohio state champion for his age group at 12 years old. His sports participation turned to track & field, tennis, and golf through high school.
Dr. Ubbes obtained his bachelor of science degree in Kinesiology at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. A major influence in his career trajectory is his mother, who is a graduate professor of public health and a health literacy advocate. Through his undergraduate tenure, he was passionate about a future of empowering people to improve their health, but the final puzzle piece fell into place when he had Dr. Dean Smith, D.C as an anatomy professor. The following semester, he met with Dr. Smith weekly to discuss evidence-based practice from peer-reviewed journals, and by breaking down episodes of Dr. Smith’s successful podcast, “Chiropractic Science.”
Four years later, Dr. Ubbes graduated from Life University in Marietta, Georgia with his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree. Life’s chiropractic philosophy of vitalism had a great impact on his foundation of beliefs. “Our bodies work hard to express health, to maintain health, and to recover from illnesses or other conditions that threaten our health.” Dr. Ubbes believes that in an era of pharmaceutical crisis in our country, there is no better time to provide drug-free chiropractic rehabilitation for musculoskeletal conditions, with positive outcomes backed by science.
Dr. Ubbes is a member of American Chiropractic Association and a recent transplant from Atlanta to St. Petersburg. Kassandra, his girlfriend of four years, is from Miami, Florida. Kassandra has a Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology and works in Hillsborough County schools. In his spare time, you will find Dr. Ubbes on the golf course, trying new local restaurants, and standing in front of the TV during Steelers games.
