Dr. Sam Scott graduated from Indiana University. In pre-med, majoring in biology and Latin, he was a published research biologist. During his junior year, by the inspiration of some of his athlete friends, he ventured into IU’s Health and Science Career Office and discovered chiropractic. He found his purpose-driven life in the profession that centers around health and wellness. Living in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago, he attended the National University of Health Sciences. He served as class president and completed his internship at NUHS Chicago General, in downtown Chicago. He would go on to open his own practice, Pure Wellness. His focus is diversified techniques.

As an only child, he became his mother’s full-time primary caregiver while she had an unexpectedly long, brave battle with stage 4 breast cancer. Using his culinary skills as a trained chef and his extensive background in nutrition, he took care of his mom’s life with love until her passing. Upon moving back to Florida, he chose to live in Clearwater. He has friends and history here, as he had a home on Redington Beach and graduated Clearwater Central Catholic in 1990. And, his 20 year old daughter, Zoe, is now down here on Delray Beach.

Living a life of sports on a personal level, Dr. Sam can truly relate to most patients’ injuries.

In his younger years, he was a sponsored skateboarder, touring America in competitions. He enjoys a healthy, active lifestyle with everything from tennis to surfing. In his relaxing time, Dr. Sam enjoys cooking, reading, and oil painting.

She brings a deep passion for wellness to her chiropractic care, backed by a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from the University of Texas at Austin and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Parker University in Dallas.

In 2009, Dr. Kelly expanded her clinical skills through a clinic abroad program in Mexico City, further enriching her patient-centered approach. She spent 14 years practicing in Austin, Texas, where she helped countless patients maintain healthy, active lifestyles. In 2024, she made the move to Florida and joined The Joint Chiropractic team, bringing her experience and dedication to the Tri City location in January 2025.

Originally born in Louisiana and raised in the Tampa Bay area, Dr. Clausen began his academic journey early by earning his Associate of Arts degree through a high school early college program. He continued on to the University of South Florida, where he graduated with a degree in Biology, concentrating on Pre-Med studies.

He went on to receive his Doctor of Chiropractic degree with honors from the National University of Health Sciences, where he completed his clinical internship at the NUHS clinic in Pinellas Park. There, he gained hands-on experience in diagnosing and treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions.

I’ve been a patient for over a year and will probably be one until the day I die. When I first went to The Joint I had a lot of lower back troubles that were paired with a migraine that would bring me to tears. Now I go once a week for a weekly adjustment and haven’t had those painful back troubles nor the migraines. Coming to The Joint has truly been life changing for me. I was super hesitant about joining another membership place where I’d just be another member number, that is so not the case here.

    I was in so much pain that I could not even fill out the intake forms when I first came into the Joint. Now I have been pain-free for several years after receiving excellent care from Docot Sam. I've been a weekly patient for over 7 years now and consider my weekly visits to be essential to my health. I am a nurse and work long hours. I once did not believe in chiropractic care, but a neck injury gave me a completely different opinion when it relieved pain that nothing else would help.     What I like about the Joint is that it is open 7 days a week. My previous chiropractor was closed Fri - Sun, and that is when I needed him most. The prices are great.     I dragged myself into the joint one weekend because my headache was so bad I couldn't function; I was almost to the point of vomiting.     If there was a zero star option I would choose that. I have been going to The Joint Chiropractic in St. Petersburg since the month they opened. I have received nothing but extraordinary care at that location for the last 5.5 years. I recently moved to Largo. I have tried to go to this clinic on 4 different occasions and Everytime there has been over a 45 minute wait. Today, I waited an hour and wish I wouldn’t have. I’m in worse condition leaving that when I went in and I see the chiropractor weekly (in St. Pete). The receptionist is quite unfriendly and not welcoming. It’s her way or the highway attitude. I asked to see Dr. Sam as that is who I was recommended to see by the clinic staff in St. Pete. The receptionist would not allow me to see my preference! What kind of customer service is that? The female chiro that I saw was just not equipped to handle the tough adjustments I require. She read through my notes and then I specified exactly the technique that works best for my adjustments to be successful. She didn’t listen to any of it. She stretched my neck so far at one point then tried to adjust me with what felt like one finger. NOTHING adjusted in my snottier cervical/thoracic spine at any point. She did get my hips to move. My neck hurts worse now than when I went in and I now have a headache due to her. Again, I see the chiropractor weekly and have never had such a poor attempted adjustment. I will have to use another one of my visits over this weekend at the St.Pete clinic so they can undo what was attempted today. DO NOT recommend this clinic.

    Unsavory business practices. I had a temporary back ailment and went in for 1 series of treatments. The Joint subsequently charged me for an additional 11 months, the most recent charge coming on Dec 29. The charges were difficult to detect as they were being withdrawn from a spouse's HSA account with limited reporting. They refuse a refund, hiding behind their "subscription" model. This is a predatory practice of the worst sort, taking advantage of the unwitting during moments of physical pain and duress.

    The time for adjustment I get is very short, for about 10 minutes. But I don’t blame them for the short adjustment period because the price is almost 75% lower than the price I pay for my current chiropractor who gives me a 30 minute adjustment time (that already includes the vibrating machine and some self-administered exercise before the adjustment). Also some chiropractors are good and some are not. So you need to try all of them and the next time you visit, see whoever you prefer. And stick to that. Otherwise you would always need to tell your story to the new one.

    If I could give less than 1 star. I would. This is not related to the Dr's and the doctor care. This is solely based on this business model. The doctors are great. The care is great, when you are able to get in and be seen. The Joint does not take appointments and is based on walk in service. When they sell you on the package deal you are told that you can get in and out within a 10 minute time period. This is not true. Think about the deal before you sign up. Yes, your adjustment appointment only takes about 10 minutes but the wait time is now 45 to 60 minutes when you walk in. The reason for this? The Joint is constantly signing up new patients. They do not take appointments because they know they cannot possibly see all of these patients in 1 week. Your treatment plan is usually 2 to 3 appointments a week to start out. So unless you have a few hours to waste waiting in the waiting room each week, do not sign up for this so called deal.

    I am constantly on my feet and driving due to the fact that I work for the postal offfice. My lower and Mid back always hurt but after I got adjusted my pain went from a 5 to a 2. I am sleeping better and my posture has improved. Would definatley reccomend!!!

    Dr. Charles Mixon relieved my extreme pain in my chest and back that I've had for 4-5 weeks!     I actually had never seen a chiropractor prior to coming to the joint but my first experience has truly changed my mind on what the practice is. A lot of people tend to be afraid due to the sounds of cracking or stories told. Dr. Jasmina Patel was really educated and gave an amazing explanation on the effects of continuous chiropractic care. I am also pregnant and throughout my pregnancy it has been extremely difficult to fall asleep and stay asleep. After my first adjustment I was able to sleep without getting up frequently. 10/10 recommend this care!

    After more than a month of severe lower back pain that prevented normal activities. I decided to come to The Joint to see if it could help.
