Joel Manion, DC, MS, CSCS, joined The Joint Chiropractic team of holistic healthcare providers in 2019 with his arrival to LG Chiropractic Group, where he serves as the Director of Operations and Chiropractic Services. A graduate of University of Florida with a bachelor’s of science in exercise physiology, Dr. Joel received his doctorate of chiropractic from Logan University College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Mo.
“The thing I love most about being in the field is the power of the chiropractic adjustment,” he says, “the ability to improve a patient’s quality of life through chiropractic care.”
In addition to his role with The Joint, Dr. Joel serves as adjunct faculty at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange. A product of Orange Park, Dr. Joel worked previously in Peoria, Ill., as well as Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach Gardens, Miami, and Jacksonville.
“I enjoy the ability to provide chiropractic care to the masses and help continue to build The Joint brand in the communities we are serving,” he says.
In his spare time, Dr. Joel enjoys watersports, working out, and spending time with friends and wife Melissa. “We met in Jacksonville while she was managing a colleague and friend’s chiropractic office,” he says. “We share the same love for the chiropractic profession.”
His chiropractic journey was sparked by a first-hand experience.
“I was in a bad car accident in 2003 and referred over to a chiropractic physician in Memphis, Tenn.,” Dr. Joel says. “It was my first interaction with a chiropractor and went into it somewhat skeptical because I didn’t know a whole lot about the profession. Once I arrived at the office and realized how professional the doctor and the staff were, it was then I quickly became much more comfortable with the choice I had made.
“I was then blown away by how diligent and detailed the chiropractor was explaining my condition to me in a way that helped me understand how chiropractic care was going to not only improve my current status, but also how continued care would improve my overall quality of life. As I continued through the prescribed therapy plan, I realized how quickly the chiropractic adjustments were improving my pain levels and improving my overall quality of life. It was then that I made the conscious decision to research and apply to chiropractic college.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
If he could bring together anyone from history to create the dinner party of his dreams, Dr. Joel would invite a group that could headline any convention of corporate CEOs. “I would include Howard Schultz because he is the genius mind behind the rapid expansion of the Starbucks brand,” he says. “Zig Ziglar because he is the original master at the art of sales. Tony Robbins because he is the ultimate speaker regarding personal persuasion and understanding self-improvement. Also, I would invite actor Gary Busey because of his prolific and crazy antics, but most importantly because of his famous one-liners in my favorite movie, Point Break.”
The coolest thing that Dr. Joel has ever done took place while he was on vacation. “I zip-lined on the longest and tallest zip line in the world over open ocean in Haiti,” he says. “What made it so cool was that I did this lying flat on my stomach traveling at speeds of up to 60 mph.”
Dr. Manuel Soto-Garcia was raised in Bedford, Texas. He attained a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Physiology from Midwestern State University. Shortly after, his passion for travel and further education brought him to Port Orange, Florida, where he attended Palmer College of Chiropractic – Florida, attaining his Doctorate of Chiropractic Medicine.
Having been very active growing up, and as a result suffering many injuries, Dr. Soto grew more and more fascinated with the human body. He has recognized the importance of well-rounded healthcare and a holistic approach to help individuals optimize their lives.
During his time at Palmer College, Dr. Soto found a passion for exploring the complexities of the human mind and its interactions with our bodies and environment. He began to study clinical neurosciences (functional neurology) and has completed an extensive post-doctorate program in clinical neuroscience. Dr. Soto has also attained a certification by the Society of NeuroSports.
Dr. Soto holds a firm belief that exercise is medicine. He encourages an active lifestyle in combination with proper diet and nutrition to promote health, performance and longevity. He believes this combination allows individuals to fully take control of their health and well-being.
On his alleged spare time, Dr. Soto enjoys being outdoors. He loves a good hike or spending the day at the beach or springs. He loves to learn and has a passion for reading scientific literature which expand his knowledge over the complexities of the human brain and body.
Dr. Shaun Krein was born and raised in Westport, Connecticut. He attended the University of Massachusetts where he received his Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Biology, Pre-Medicine, and Medical Anthropology.
Before becoming a Chiropractor, Dr. Shaun enjoyed a long career in the field of health and wellness. After receiving his certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at 17 years old, Dr. Shaun rode in ambulances, worked in several hospitals, studied HIV and Alzheimer’s Disease at a medical research facility, and worked in billing companies, universities, and a massage therapy school. He spent five years as a teacher and certified massage therapist (CMT) in San Francisco, California.
Chiropractic allowed Dr. Shaun to expand his focus to outside of the United States. After receiving his Doctor of Chiropractic at Life University in Marietta, Georgia, Dr. Shaun joined the largest chiropractic franchise in Peru and worked in the capital Lima. After a year he transferred to Colombia and spent several years in the capital of Bogotá. He returned to the United States and started working with The Joint in central Florida August 2019.
Dr. Shaun speaks fluent medical Spanish and is excited to assist the people of Greater Orlando, including those who may feel more comfortable speaking in their native tongue.
In his free time, Dr. Shaun enjoys reading, cooking exotic meals, or spending time at the pool or on a beach with his wife Nancy. They enjoy hiking and kayaking, as well as traveling nationally and internationally. Dr. Shaun has had the pleasure of visiting all but a small handful of US national parks.
