Dr. Daniel Lee Grotzinger was born in St. Marys, PA on July 7, 1948. A semester was spent at St. Vincent college in Latrobe, PA studying for the Catholic priesthood before deciding to enlist in the USAF during the Vietnam war. He specialized in the radar systems for the B-58 and B-52. After four years of service he was discharged with spinal injuries. Several years of severe back pain with sciatica, with no relief from the usual medical methods lead to Dan trying chiropractic upon the advice of a church friend. In three visits the severe bilateral sciatic pain was resolved. Because of the tremendous help chiropractic had given him he began to think there must be a lot of others who have gone through what he did and could use the same kind of help. After several prayer sessions he received a very clear witness that this should be his life calling.
Dr. Grotzinger completed his pre-med at Drake university in Des Moines with a 4.0 GPA in 1976. He graduated from Palmer Chiropractic, Magna Cum Laude in 1981 having worked nights and fathering three children in the process. Since then he has worked both in solo practice and a number of multi-doctor clinics, gaining a wide variety of experience and proficiency. He prides himself on being an effective chiropractor who has balanced the ways of the old time chiropractors with today's emphasis on patient comfort.
Today he is the dedicated father of six adult children, grandfather to five children and flies RC model aircraft and loves music .He still believes he was "called" to be a chiropractor.
Dr. Abigail (Abby) Wade was born in raised in Virginia. Due to her father's work in education, Abby moved around her home state a lot as a child. This traveling allowed her to enjoy the many natural elements of her home state. Abby grew up in a competitive house and competed as cross cross country runner, a mid-distance track athlete, and as a pole vaulter starting at a young age. These sports allowed her to witness varying levels of competition as she participated in state-wide and nation-wide meets, such as Penn Relays.
Abby was raised to be a Hokie (Virginia Tech fan) from a young age, but surprised her parents by attending the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va for her undergraduate degree where she earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering Science: Nanomedical Engineering. While there, she also obtained minors in Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry. Dr. Abby realized then that she loved the hands-on side of medicine, but she was craving a more interpersonal practice than her engineering degree would allow her.
This realization is what pushed her to attend New York Chiropractic College where she obtained her Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine, graduating in 2019. She is also a member of the Phi Chi Omega Honors Society. While attending NYCC, she met her husband, Dr. Alex Wade.
Dr. Abby spent part of her clinical training at the Richard L. Roudebush Veteran's Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis. She was honored to serve our veteran population and to provide them with the highest level of care.
Dr. Abby loves the hands-on approach that chiropractic medicine takes and strives to embody the elements of a doctor, a healer, and a teacher. It is her personal mission to ensure all her patients understand how their bodies work and how their day-to-day activities can contribute to that pain or dysfunction. She firmly believes that, through this understanding, she can help her patients realize a pain-free lifestyle and a higher quality of life. After all, you can only be your best self when you feel your best!
Dr. Abby Wade and her husband, Dr. Alex Wade just recently moved to Indianapolis October 2019. Both chiropractors hope to help the Greater Indianapolis region by providing quality care and any advice they can offer to help lead anyone to a healthier lifestyle.
While Dr. Abby will spend most of her week here with us at Broad Ripple, she will also be on the schedule some in Carmel, Zionsville, and Avon.
