Meet The Doctors
Dr. Walburn has been with The Joint in some capacity since 2017. After graduating from Cleveland Chiropractic College, Dr. Walburn practiced in Colorado and Utah before having the opportunity to become the PC over The Joint clinics in the Kansas City metro area. Dr. Walburn loves The Joint’s model that makes it quick and easy for patients to get regular care and enhance physical function in their day to day lives, allowing them to live a healthier active lifestyle.
In his spare time, Dr. Walburn loves to travel, and enjoys spending time outdoors, typically road biking or touring, and has ridden many miles across the country, seeing some amazing sites. Coming back to the Kansas City area allows Dr. Walburn to spend more with his family.
Dr Walburn has had the opportunity to treat patients from 2 days old to youngsters 94 years of age. Whether the patent is an infant, pregnant, athletes of all ages, and everyone else, The Joint’s focus is on the importance of chiropractic care and the positive impact it has on each life. Dr. Alan Swanson is a graduate from Cleveland University Kansas City in 2021 and has been treating patients at a Private Chiropractic in Lawrence, KS prior to his time with The Joint. Prior to becoming a DC, Dr Swanson worked in healthcare at several local hospitals. During schooling Dr Swanson was able to volunteer time treating at several Free Health Clinics in Kansas City Missouri, Leavenworth, and Kansas City Kansas areas. During his preceptorship Dr Swanson spent 3 months working for the Dept of Veterans Affairs at a satellite office in Lawrence, Kansas.
Dr Swanson focuses on patient care and helping others achieve their life goals through wellness. He believes in helping patients achieve their goals through conservative care and proper Chiropractic Adjustments. A movie quote that stuck with Dr Swanson through schooling and treating individuals came from a Robin Williams film called Patch Adams, that quote is "You treat a disease, you win, you lose. You treat a person, I guarantee you, you'll win, no matter what the outcome." Patient care is an upmost priority to Dr Swanson.
Dr Swanson has 3 amazing children who all participate in sports such as Roller Derby, Mixed Martial Arts, Soccer and avid video gaming. He is a dedicated Sporting KC Fan and a huge supporter of the new women's team KC Current. He is a supporter of the beautiful game and is excited to see the World Cup in his home town in 2026.
Growing up in a family of first responders, Elaina always knew that she wanted a career helping the people within her community. As a young girl, you could find her riding her horse or riding a four-wheeler. Both led to many tosses and tumbles, which over the years were accompanied with aches and pains. As time went on, she started seeking care from a chiropractor, not only for the aches and pains she was experiencing but also for improvement of her posture while riding. After a few short weeks of care, she could see the improvement in her riding posture, had less aches and pains and could feel her overall sense of wellness improving! Elaina saw so much improvement from herself being adjusted that she started having her family, horses, and pets checked! Now every member of her family receives chiropractic care. From that point on she knew she wanted to be a chiropractor!
Dr. Shelton graduated from the University of Cleveland - Kansas City where she obtained her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. She is focused on providing a natural alternative to health care which allows the nervous system to function at its’ highest potential without interference. She is also certified in Webster technique which specializes in prenatal and pediatric chiropractic care.
Outside of work, Dr. Shelton really enjoys spending time with her fiancé, two dogs “Norman and Kingsley”, cat “Patrick”, and horse “Mr. Ace”. She also enjoys fishing, horseback riding, riding four wheelers, and a good burger and fries. Her favorite place to visit is Haystack Rock on Canon Beach in Oregon. Dr. Shelton was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri and loves to support her Kansas City Chiefs! Go Chiefs!!
