Originally from Brady, Texas, Dr. Derek earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of North Texas before completing his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Logan University in 2026. “That first adjustment was enough for me to realize chiropractic was where I needed to be,” Dr. Derek shared. “As I got older and saw how chiropractic could help people avoid unnecessary surgeries and improve their quality of life, my passion for the profession only grew.”

Dr. Derek’s motivation for becoming a chiropractor was also deeply personal. After watching his grandfather struggle through multiple back surgeries that did little to improve his pain, he became determined to help others find alternative solutions focused on healing, movement, and function.

“Helping patients find relief after they’ve started losing hope is incredibly rewarding,” he said. “Being trusted to play a role in changing someone’s life is both humbling and an honor.”

During his clinical training, Dr. Derek worked closely with Dr. Jennifer DeMoor, who served as his preceptor and mentor, helping him bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world patient care.

Dr. Derek joined The Joint Chiropractic in 2026 and appreciates the opportunity to connect with patients and coworkers in a welcoming, team-focused environment.

“The best thing about working at The Joint is the people I get to interact with every day,” he said.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Derek enjoys sports of all kinds, weightlifting, basketball, and spending time with family. He and his wife, Hallie, are raising their young son, Cooper, while Hallie continues her own chiropractic education at Logan University.
