When I was in high school, I loved to play football. I wasn’t the best or greatest, but football was what I liked to play. During a game my junior year I fell and landed on my right hand. My elbow was partially dislocated. Every time I got hit after that my hand went numb and I couldn’t move it for up to 5 minutes. After 2 weeks, I finally went to a chiropractor. He adjusted my elbow and I was able to return to playing without pain. But I’ve had problems with my elbow over the years. And “I know I needed more treatment to get the best long-term results”.
Which brings me to my next story. I was in 2 accidents one day 20 minutes apart. Recovery took a year, but I was feeling really good again. At that point I thought to myself, “I feel a lot better when I get chiropractic treatment regularly”. So, I continued getting adjustments weekly for about 2 years. Those two years were the best I’ve felt since my twenties. I slept better, worked harder and played harder without the aches and pains.
“Chiropractic care helps me live without pain”. The process is simple as you likely know, joints don’t move right. Nerves get stretched or pinched. Tissues get inflamed or swollen. Nerves don’t send messages well. Muscles get tight to protect joints. Joints and other tissues break down.
“Getting adjusted helps my body work better”.
As a father, a softball coach and doctor it’s not always easy to make time to get adjusted but it’s great to not have the aches and pain other people my age have.
Looking Forward to Meeting you,
Dr. Jesse Nuttall
My name is Dr. Greg Fillmore. I was born in Tucson, Arizona and moved through many states before planting roots in 2001 in Lake Oswego, a suburb just south of Portland Oregon. Growing up I was always a very active kid participating in as many sports as I could. As expected with active kids I had my fair share of bumps and bruises and was always fascinated by the body's ability to heal and recover after these injuries.
As a child of two physicians medicine and health were always discussions, we had around the dinner table. This was the start of my passion and fascination with the human body and what it was capable of. This interest would lay dormant for a time while I was figuring out what life had in store for me. While attending Portland Community College I started taking human anatomy courses and this sparked my interest again. After 2 years at Portland Community College I transferred to Southern Oregon University in beautiful Ashland, Oregon to start my undergraduate degree in pre physical therapy.
My change over to become a chiropractor was not something that I saw in the cards when I left for Ashland, but it has been one of the best decisions of my life. Towards the end of my undergraduate career I was feeling very disheartened by the lack of joy and excitement that I was getting out of Physical Therapy and was looking for a change. Luckily, I knew someone who was attending Chiropractic school in Portland and I thought I would check it out. Before this I had zero experience with chiropractors. After shadowing a couple of appointments, I knew that this was the career for me. The hands-on approach as well as the ability to offer immediate help to someone was very appealing to me. Shortly after shadowing I applied and started studying at the University of Western States and the rest is history.
When I am not treating patients, you can find me outside with my wife Tiffany in the garden, playing with our chocolate lab, or playing sports competitively where I have had the honor of representing my city and country. As an active family we understand that mobility is crucial. My goal for all my patients is to ensure they are getting the care they need to get up and moving again enjoying the pacific wonderland we call home.
