Dr. Patrick Vollrath -- who is happy to be called Dr. Pat or Dr. V -- has been with The Joint Chiropractic since December 2015. A graduate of Millersville (Pa.) University with a degree in biology, Dr. Pat received his doctorate in 1986 from Texas Chiropractic College.
With Dr. Pat’s experience, he has seen a lot of things through the years. “The part I love most about being in the chiropractic field is seeing people who are in pain, many times for months or even years, get relief from that pain with an adjustment,” he says. “The other thing is teaching people ways to be healthy without medication or surgery.”
Dr. Pat was raised in Lancaster, Pa., and said he knew chiropractic was his calling after his parents told him about its virtues. Having worked in Philadelphia and Exton, Pa., and Pasadena, Md., he and wife Diane have been married more than 30 years and have three grown children.
Dr. Pat enjoys the SayeBrook clinic and loves that he has the opportunity “to concentrate on helping people and not worrying about insurance companies, attorneys, narratives, or plan limitations,” he says.
In Case You Didn’t Know …
In his spare time, Dr. Pat enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, hiking, and target shooting.
Given an opportunity to share the perfect dinner with anyone from history, Dr. Pat would like to bring together his own personal Mt. Rushmore from the Bible: Jesus, Noah, Moses and Elijah. “Who could you learn more from,” Dr. Pat asks.
The coolest thing he has ever done was take a two week trip to Alaska. “It is the most beautiful country I have ever seen and some of the nicest people I have ever met,” Dr. Pat says.
Dr. Joseph Camilli joined The Joint Chiropractic in 2018 with his assignment to the SayeBrook clinic in Myrtle Beach, where he joins the team’s other local chiropractors. A 1984 graduate of Rutgers who received a degree in political science, Dr. Camilli got his doctorate from Pennsylvania College of Chiropractic in 1987.
“The thing I enjoy most about being a chiropractor is the opportunity to educate patients and to really help them,” Dr. Camilli says.
A product of southern New Jersey, he worked previously in Philadelphia. Dr. Camilli and wife Susan have been married more than 30 years; they attended high school and college together, raised two adult daughters, and have two awesome dogs: Scout, an Australian shepherd, and Sarge, “a rescue dog, probably Aussie and Catahoula.”
Dr. Camilli says he knew that chiropractic was his calling “when I realized you can help heal people without drugs or invasive procedures.”
He says the best thing about working as a local chiropractor in Myrtle Beach is “the doctors I’m working with; they’re good guys and great doctors.”
In his spare time, Dr. Camilli enjoys the outdoors and counts baseball and golf among his hobbies. “I also enjoy serving in my community,” he says.
In Case You Didn’t Know …
Dr. Camilli says the one thing he must keep stocked in his refrigerator is cheese. “I like old world cheeses,” he explains.
If there was an opportunity to share that love of cheese with four figures from history who would comprise his dream dinner party, Dr. Camilli would gather together a founding father, an explorer from Spain, a musician from England, and an actress from Italy.
“John Adams, because I’m a history buff and because he was the smartest and most bluntly honest of our founding fathers,” Dr. Camilli says. “Christopher Columbus was the most intrepid person I’ve ever read about. George Harrison, because I like music, the Beatles, and because he was the most interesting of the four. And Sophia Loren because there has to be a reason for the rest of us to want to be there.”
Dr. Camilli has become a fairly accomplished world traveler. “I’ve been fortunate enough to travel through 48 of the 50 states, through Europe and Asia Minor, the Caribbean, and Central America,” he says. “I’ve seen the Atlantic, the Pacific, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean. I have seen popes and presidents in person. Traveling and exploring confirms that other people and other places are amazing. And traveling provides the opportunity to meet with new people and create memories with family members and friends. It doesn’t get any cooler than that.”
Dr. Jason Bell (aka Dr. J.) is a 1999 graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic and was in private practice for 15 years in Indianapolis Indiana and 5 years in North Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Techniques he utilizes are Diversified, Thompson, and Activator. Dr. J believes in the benefits of life long chiropractic care. He was adjusted by a chiropractor at the early age of only 10 weeks. He and his wife, Tina, enjoy dancing Shag, hunting for shark teeth and paddleboarding with their son.
Dr. Brennen Clement joined the Joint Chiropractic team in 2019 after graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic’s Florida campus at the end of 2018. As a Spanish Translation major from Brigham Young University, Dr. Clement enjoys being able to help patients in English and Spanish.
“The best thing about being a chiropractor is being able to see people get better as we treat them and as they make changes in their lives,” Dr. Clement explains.
Having grown up in southern California, he has spent most of his life living on the West Coast. He and his wife of 7 years decided to uproot and are now enjoying their time in South Carolina with their young son.
Dr. Clement grew up going to the chiropractor and would marvel at the knowledge they had of the human body. “Whenever I went to the chiropractor, I was amazed at how quickly the doctor would identify and correct the issues I was having. This inspired me to want to do the same for others,” he says.
Dr. Clement thinks the best thing about working at the Sayebrook clinic is the other doctors, who he enjoys being around and collaborating with.
In Case You Didn’t Know…
Outside of the office, Dr. Clement has fun participating in sports such as basketball and volleyball, as well as spending quality time outside with his family.
One of his favorite experiences was taking a backpacking trip to Havasupai (a tributary of the Grand Canyon) and spending a week in its oasis hiking and swimming around waterfalls with friends and family.
