Dr. Sarah Stephens became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2020 when she began serving residents in the Greenville/Spartanburg area, where she continues doing the work she finds so gratifying.

“The best thing about being in the chiropractic field is the fact that I get to help people feel better and achieve health naturally by just using my hands,” she says. “I love what I do.

“It’s rewarding to see the positive change in my patients with regular consistent chiropractic care.”

You can call her Dr. Sarah, and she’s a product of South Carolina. She married her high school sweetheart and has three daughters, including twins, along with a black goldendoodle named Stella. In addition to spending time with her family, she likes to paddle board, hike, and exercise.

Dr. Sarah attended Sweet Briar College in Virginia before earning her bachelor’s degree in nutrition at Excelsior College in New York. She then went to Sherman College of Chiropractic in Boiling Springs to get her doctorate; while there, she received the Garfunkel Award, the highest honor for student achievement.

“When I was 16, I was diagnosed with cervical cancer and was told I may never be able to have children and needed to have surgery,” she says. “Instead, I went to a chiropractor, got my body and immune system healthy, and my body healed. That’s when I knew I wanted to be able to help people naturally as best as I could. It may not cure everyone’s cancer, but chiropractic care does help the body fight disease naturally by stimulating the immune system. And as a bonus, I stopped having headaches.”

If she could bring together any four persons from history for her ideal dinner party, Dr. Sarah would send invitations to entrepreneur Elon Musk, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, singer Reba McEntire, and author Ernest Hemingway: “The scientific and philosophical discussion would be amazing, and Reba is there to entertain us.”

The most fascinating thing that Dr. Sarah has experienced took place off the coast of Australia. “I got to do a dive on the Great Barrier Reef with my youngest daughter and my mother,” she says. “It may be one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen, and the way that the oceans are being polluted, the reef may be completely destroyed in my lifetime. It was amazing to see while it still had life and color.”

I signed up for a membership 5/5/25 and was told that I could cancel at any time by calling. Here it is 5/25/25 and I called to cancel to be told that not only can I not cancel over the phone I also have to go into the facility location where I created my account. The lady on the recorded line even admitted there have been issues at the location with giving correct information. The misinformation that led me to going ahead and purchasing a membership was also given to someone the same day right before me and I heard the guy say “I’m not from here so I want to make sure I don’t have to come back here to cancel” he was assured that was not the case that he could just call or go to any location. Companies like this are exactly why I am hesitant to sign up for any membership! Either get your information straight or honor what your staff is telling people.

To get chiropractic service you have to sign up for monthly plan. Well after 2 months I cancelled my service and they said I had to come in and sign. I informed them that because of the down trees on my driveway due to the hurricane I'm unable to leave. 2days later they charged me again. Now they say they can email me something to sign. Just wasted one of my 4 monthly visits. The one place where I needed to be adjusted (and 2 other senior doctors there HAVE adjusted), the one on duty, Dr. Jessica would not address, opting instead for an "activator" across my upper back, which is useless for what I have going on. Instead she just twisted my hips,which did not pop, did one push on my mid-back, and said "ok,thanks". Actually hurt WORSE after leaving. Going to contact management after the weekend to see if that visit can be refunded...and if that person is working alone next time, I'll just walk out. Update to review.. after an hrs of original post, the regional manager called me, got my visit refunded, and invited me back in. The management of the S'Burg area Joint stores are great,and understanding. Went in for a visit, and it went well.

I've been going to chiropractors since 1978...My chiropractor retired.. I've been going to him since 1997..He recommended The Joint. I started going in Greer. The lady that signed me up was incredible. I seen Dr Jerome..He was awesome, listened to me..He did a great job. I went a couple of times but but he's leaving. So I decided to try spartanburg. I walked in, and they were very nice. As I said, I've been going to chiropractors for many many years. I told her I needed a dr that was heavy handed. She said Dr Nix would be a good fit....she wasn't kidding. I had never felt so completely adjusted in all my life. He hits everything.. and I feel absolutely incredible.. I have been using chiropractic care for many years and recently lost my routine chiropractor. I gave the joint a try and first off, watch out for the 2 month minimum membership! you cannot cancel until after the 2nd month has been billed/paid and then, be sure to show up in person and make sure to allow a couple days time in advance of your billing cycle date to cancel. NOTHING SAYS POOR QUALITY LIKE TRAPPING CLIENTS INTO FUNDING YOUR BUSINESS! I just wanted to give these guys a try and it should have been just that, but they failed to explain the intricate details of their financial trap. Sure I signed all the necessary places on the 30 minute application over the tablet...easy to not grasp fully when buried in all the paperwork. I did ask and inquire before paying and the lady said oh yes you can cancel anytime....anytime apparently after they get two months payments from you. So if you're gonna give the McDonald's of chiropractic a try, be prepared to pay regardless for 2 months and then be Johnny on the spot to come out two days prior to rebilling your account in order to avoid the constant scamming of your hard earned money!!! They have no problem keeping your money without you using their services. I explained as well to the lady over the phone ...I will not be returning because they actually provided no relief from symptoms after 3 visits and symptoms got much worse. Fyi ..went to another chiropractic office and symptoms now have been treated and improved upon in one visit and that's the way it should be for someone that has been under constant chiropractic care and has not been injured. ?

Did not have a good experience here. Everything felt rushed.. I was in terrible pain.. I was explaining to Dr. Marissa my issue and it was like she ignore everything I said and gave me a few basic adjustments that had nothing to do with my problem area and sent me on my way. I’ve been to chiropractors before so I know I explained well what my issue was. I gave them two stars one for being open on the weekend and second for reminding why I needed to cancel my membership in the first place.

It’s kinda iffy they say it’s 29$ for new patients and things but once u get in there it’s totally different they have all these different expensive charges my first time going and ever getting adjusted I paid 109. I wasn’t ready at all to pay that and not only that they got my card recurring I don’t think I’m going to keep there membership but they did help me with getting adjusted I just think I’ll pay 45$ everytime I visit it’s just not worth it monthly and things

Our experience at The Joint has exceeded our expectations. I do industrial cleaning and my fiance is a welder . Absolutely love this place I can't stand chiropractors but then dr Austin fixed my neck and back and now he is the only one I let touch my neck. Your entire team is great, zero problems ever. However, Doctor Austin is FANTASTIC and goes out of his way to help me feel better every single time I visit. He even came in on his day off to adjust me after a Vertigo episode. Dr. Austin deserves a raise!!! Dr. Lacey is hands down, the best chiropractor I’ve seen! I used to get adjustments after an accident back in June with a different company, but really never got true relief. 2 months ago, I experienced the worst lower back/hip pain... as I’ve never had those problems before. My wife enrolled me at the Joint Chiropractic to receive my first ever adjustment. And the journey began. My first visit, I was in bad shape…all my mobility was shot. But Dr. Justin and Dr. Austin reminded me of the road to recovery and took really great care of me. DO NOT go to any of the Greenville/Spartanburg area Joint Chiropractic offices. The are all owned by the same cheapskate Chiropractor. The Joint uses the absolute cheapest adjustment tables that can not perform cervical (neck) and thoracic (shoulders to mid back) drop adjustments necessary for standard chiropractic care. Your adjustments will not hold, you will not get the health benefits needed and you will have to go back for more substandard chiropractic care far too often. Find yourself a owner operator style chiropractor for the best results.

Scam. My husband went there because they were promoting a $29 first time visit with an X-ray. The X-ray was never done and he ended up paying $108 for the month. He only went a couple of times and the visits were literally only 2 minutes long. That’s it!!! Then his physical therapist told him to stop going. Now his card was charged today for $79. I called to get a refund since he cannot go anymore and they refuse to refund him even thought they haven’t done anything to earn this money yet. They said that if he brings a not from his physical therapist they might consider refunding him, but they are not sure. Thieves!! His next physical therapy appointment isn’t for another 18 days, so we will see if they refund him once he brings the note. What kind of business practice is this?? So he is charged $187 for like 5 minutes of their time?

I have battled with chronic migraines for at least 15 years. I was having 19 to 21 migraines a month. I had been on multiple migraine medications that gave me short term or no relief. I was getting ready to start on Botox injections for the migraines and decided to try chiropractic treatments due to the side effects of Botox being so scary. I walked in as a new patient and they said they were not accepting new patients even though there was a sign at the front of the store about a new patient special. Also the website says no appointment is required. They really wasted my time with the FALSE ADVERTISING. I see another person had the exact same experience as me. Edit: the reply from The Joint below says “waiting that day” was an option given to me. It was NOT an option given to me. This is a lie. The front desk did NOT say that I could wait in order to be seen. They said I could make an appointment for the next day. I had my first experience this week at The Joint Chiropractic Spartanburg. I highly recommend! I came in with low back pain and my right leg going numb. I was so frustrated this pain had made my daily life hard to manage. The receptionist Is so helpful and welcoming! I was referred to Dr. Justin and he was fantastic. I experienced my first ever onset of sciatica about 2 weeks ago. It was the worst pain I had ever experienced in my life! I ended up going to Urgent Care on a Sunday, because I just couldn't take it anymore. They prescribed me meds, that by day 3, were just not working. So, on day 3, I started using my mother's crutches, just to get SOME support! That same day, I decided to go to the chiropractor (terrified because I was always scared they would paralyze me). I met Dr. Sarah on my first visit, and she was very in-tuned to what was going on with me. She made me feel very comfortable, so I immediately let go of my anxieties. The entire time she was adjusting me, I was in pain and did not want to go back, but she assured me that after about 3 visits, I should experience some relief, so I stuck it out, as she wanted me back the very next day! I complied. Still taking my meds and still in writhing pain and on crutches, I hobbled into the office the next day, but Dr. Sarah was not there! I grew anxious again. This doctor was not as inviting as Dr. Sarah was, but he had this confidence about him that I really appreciated, so I relaxed, somewhat... Midway through the visit with him, I knew I was going to be ok. He, like Dr. Sarah wanted me back the next day, again! I was more at ease this time though, so once again, I complied. Still on crutches, on my meds and in writhing pain, I walked into the office the next day, and guess who was there! Yep! Dr. Sarah! Immediately she was like, "Ah I see you are still on crutches!" I was amazed that she remembered me, and she did not hold back from acknowledging it out loud. It made me feel like more than just a scanned ID card. I really appreciated that! So, fast forward. Over the weekend, I saw Dr. Tiffany. She was a real sweetheart, a little quiet, bu really nice. By the time I saw Dr. Tiffany, though, I was feeling really, really, good! I didn't really need my crutches 100%, but I hadn't trusted myself without them yet. That was on Sunday... By Monday, I felt like a brand new person! I had my crutches in the car with me, but I was not taking them into the stores with me. By Tuesday, I didn't even take my crutches to work! I was almost back to my old self! Well, I decided to go in to the chiropractor on my lunch break, TODAY, which is Wednesday, and Dr. Sarah and the male chiropractor who assisted me last Thursday was there. Dr. Sarah IMMEDIATELY (while working with another patient) was like "No more crutches, I see!" That made my day! It was so heartwarming to me that she remembered me and once again, verbalized it as soon as she saw me walk to the back. I am so pleased with the customer care and Dr. Sarah's personableness (if you will), that I am going to keep my membership going at Joint Chiropractic! Thank you to all of the doctors who got me off of those crutches and to a place where I never thought I would be again, but a special thanks to Dr. Sarah for going the extra mile!

Absolute life saver! Im an OTR Truck Driver and use to go to a chiropractor regularly before i started driving but couldn't ever get in once i started driving due to being gone for weeks at a time and spending time with my family what little time I am at home. I found The Joint and its great that they have so many locations and being Spartanburg will be my home location i cant wait to go back for regular visits. Two weeks ago I went to the optometrist and he recommended a prescription to help ease the workload on my eyes. I’m a migraine sufferer and he thought these would help. He also recommended I see Dr. Justin, who one of his patients recommended to him for those with migraines. Today I went to pick up my new glasses and the prescription made everything blurry. The optometrist re-examined me, and believe it or not my vision is COMPLETELY different than it was 2 weeks ago. Why you ask? DR. JUSTIN!!!!! I greatly appreciate the CSR located in the front. She was very welcoming once I arrived. When I wake my lower and mid back aches and standing for long periods of time isn't my strong ability anymore. So I took a chance and went for an alignment. She was very professional and extremely motivating. I wanted to wait until the morning after to give an honest review.... I was able to rest last night without any lower back aching. I woke up this morning to laying out my yoga mat and completing my first stretch in about 5 months. I am not writing this for a discount so what you do with this information is completely up to you but I do suggest that you give it a try.

BEWARE ! Auto renewal contract. I started using The Joint last winter. I began with individual visits as I needed. Then I signed up for a "wellness Plan" that reduced my individual visit cost. When I signed up nobody discussed with me any details of termination. I used this plan for about two months and then decided I needed different care. I noticed on my Credit Card bill that I was still being charged. I called The Joint and spoke with the desk and requested my plan be canceled. She said she would handle it. I called my credit card company and issued a block from this merchant for any further charges and they suggested I close my account and get another card, so I did. Now I have recently discovered they have continuously been charging me ever since for a total of 7 months, a total of over $400. I called the Joint to see why I was being charged even-though I had canceled. Just how could this be ? They replied that I never "properly" terminated my plan which involves coming back into the office and physically signing a termination form. All I asked was for a credit back to my card for the un-used and un-intended visits and for them to take responsibility for their employees actions. After all I consented to pay for the month of April even-though I didn't use them for my first mistake of not calling to cancel. So far they have refused to give me a credit. The General Manager must be a coward because he or she will not return a phone call. I have launched a fraud charge with my credit card company. SO BEWARE even-though you may close an account and get new card, companies like The Joint can get your new number and continue to charge you. Without using a whole lot of not so nice adjectives this really says more about what kind of company The Joint is. I haven't been back since March 2019 yet they continued to charge me April - September and would still be charging me to this day had I not caught it.. I will say office manager named Nancy has been nice enough to send me emails and return my call, but I do not recommend doing any contracts with this company and use this review as a warning. Whoever heard of a service in this day in time where you can't cancel over a phone call?

Had my first adjustment today, everyone is very nice and professional. And they take the time to explain everything to you. I went in because I had a migraine, and they were quick to tell me that I would likely still have a migraine when I left but an adjustment can help. The adjustment helped a lot, however I did still have a migraine. I have followed the doctors orders and increased my water and have been applying ice. Going back Saturday 8/3 for my 2nd adjustment.

Dr. Laura is amazing. This was my first visit and i will be going back twice a week. I have scoilosis and needed a good chiropractor. I love that you can either pay for each visit or have a monthly plan (WHICH IS CLEARLY EXPLAINED BEFORE YOU SIGN) and you are obligated to two months but after that in order to not have it drafted out of your account you must tell them 2 DAYS before your draft is supposed to come out. I think the monthly plan is a great deal and plan to use it for years to come.

This is a great deal for long term chiropractic care. Four visits for a flat rate and additionals cost just $10. You can't beat it! If one of the Doctors doesn't suit you, try the others, I have my favorite, but I'm confident in all of them.

I had alot of lower back pain. I have been going for almost two months now and my pain has gone from a 9 to a 2. I have now been going for a year. My lower back pain is now at a 1, most of my issues now are due to my work weeks. I now go to stay out of the dr office for my sinuses, headaches. By going once a week I have past two flu seasons without getting sick. I also take my kids and they have missed all the sickness going on in school.

I highly DO NOT recommend this place. I agreed to a 30 day monthly adjustment but found I don't have the time to go up there. I called to cancel my membership and cancel the bank draft and was told I would be charged for an additional 30 days and that they will not stop drafting from my account until I physically go there to go over "the paperwork". I wouldn't even give this place one star if I didn't have to to write the review.

If you read the contract that you're signing you know exactly what financial agreement you are getting into. The facilities are clean and very professional. When signing up for the monthly plan you have a 2 month commitment to The Joint. This means, for the next two months, they WILL draw money from the account you listed. If you decide to cancel your membership, you must give them 30 days notice. Meaning, if you start your membership on the 1st of the month, and you contact them on the 15th of the second month of your membership, they WILL draw the money from your account for the third month of your membership.

Most of the bad reviews here are not even about this company--let alone this specific location. They are about people not reading and understanding a contract before agreeing to it and signing it. Each situation these folks describe is simply an example of an establishment following it's policies as laid out in the contract the people signed. Read and understand a contract before signing it and you'll be fine. (Also, you do not need to sign a contact of any sort to receive care at The Joint. However, each adjustment will be more expensive for you if you continue to pay on a per-visit basis.) The Joint Chiropractic offers exactly what it promises--straightforward manual adjustments but no additional treatment (no heat treatments head of time, no massage, no post-adjustment ice, ultrasound, or anything else.) Walk in, get an adjustment, walk out. No appointments. No hassle. That said, each location usually has at least two different doctors who practice there. And, the type and qualify of adjustment you receive will vary from practitioner to practitioner. More helpful than reviews of each location would be reviews of the individual docs. At the Spartanburg location, we've loved the care we received from Dr. Clayton Broome. Dr. Broome listens, understands, and believes what you tell him about what's going on with your body. Then he attentively looks and feels for misalignments and subluxations and checks again after the adjustment. In addition, he is trained and experienced enough to be able to effectively use a variety of adjustment techniques--and not only his favorite approach. I'd say that Dr. Broome is among the top five chiropractors I've seen over the past eighteen years. One of the other five was at one of The Joint locations in Charlotte. My kids and I have been enrolled in the care plan at The Joint for three years now and have received care at five different locations over that time. I think it's a great idea, a great service, and a plenty decent business.

I have a family member that just tried to seek the services of The Joint. They told my family member that because they were of Medicare age that they could not help them because they would have to accept medicare. My family member works and has health insurance not Medicare but was turned away. This is a Very unprofessional way of doing business.
