Dr. Morales was raised in a military family. As you might expect, his family moved often living on many bases in the midwest and southern U.S., as well as being deployed to Germany, Italy and England. He was taught the value of serving by his parents and the service members he was surrounded by, instilling in him a sense of duty to also serve. He also developed a love of learning, as he was constantly exposed to new sights, peoples, and ideas.
Upon graduating from high school, Dr. Morales began study at Southern Illinois University with the aim to enter biological research. Receiving a B.S. in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry, he was fortunate to secure a position at Washington University Medical School Genome Sequencing Center in St. Louis, MO. While there he was able to contribute to the study of many projects including the Human Genome Project.
Dr. Morales knew that the research he was taking part in was extremely valuable, and provided him with great satisfaction, but he wanted a more immediate impact with his work. While at Washington University, he was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident. Suffering from injuries sustained during the accident, even following traditional medical treatment, a family friend suggested he try their chiropractor. After his first chiropractic visit, Dr. Morales couldnʼt believe the difference he felt. Within a few short weeks, he was pain free and had returned to activities he thought he might never be able to perform again.
Chiropractic treatment had made such a difference for Dr. Morales, he wanted to provide this solution to the health challenges of others. After researching schools, he applied to Logan University in Chesterfield, MO. Dr. Morales was accepted, and after completing his studies received his doctorate of chiropractic.
“There is no other health profession that has the ability to help patients in the ways chiropractic can”, Dr. Morales says. “Promoting the ideals of health and wellness impact people's lives beyond the short term. It extends far into the future, providing those we come into contact with tools to enhance and improve their quality of life.”
After practicing in several other states, Dr. Morales returned to Texas to be closer to his family. Upon return to his family's home state, Dr. Morales was blessed with many opportunities to work with a diverse group of doctors and health professionals. Finally coming to The Joint where he and other doctors provide the care so many need.
Dr Kantara has been in the healthcare field for over 30 years. After working as an EMT/Paramedic in Mobile Intensive Care Unit and level 1 trauma Center, Dr Kantara discovered Chiropractic and without hesitation made a leap into holistic medicine. He received his doctorate in chiropractic from Texas Chiropractic College.
“Being able to take a person who suffered for years because they were told there are no other options and navigate their body back to better health, without drugs or surgeries, is very humbling,” says Dr Kantara. “Watching someone who was skeptical about chiropractic become a believer never gets old. That look in their eyes, the smile on their face, the amazement and appreciation in their heart is phenomenal. Very few professions delivers that kind of impact.“
Dr Kantara has a 10 year old son who is into Karate and near receiving his blackbelt. Their dog Kwincy, is a very sweet nine-year old maltipoo that they adopted two years ago and has been a great addition to the family.
Dr Kantara was born and raised overseas. He came into the US at the age of 19 to build a foundation and pursue an education in the medical field. The Houston suburban area has been his home ever since. He enjoys reading and studying leadership and personal development, traveling, movies, and volunteering in the community. Dr Kantara used to be a runner but now is focused on weight training and fitness kickboxing.
God’s gift to us is an abundance of water, says Dr Kantara. It is an absolute necessity for anything on this planet, from a balanced climate to the function of human body. “Water is essential for life and for living in optimal health.”
Giving the opportunity to share a meal with any four characters from history, Dr Kantara says his perfect dinner party would include the Pope so he can be blessed; mother Teresa so he can be humbled; a US soldier so he is always reminded of those who sacrifice for something greater than themselves; and Robin Williams so he would never forget that laughter is the best medicine.
Dr Kantara teamed up with The Joint Cross Creek because he believes in “alignment before assignment. Who you work with is more important that where you work, says Dr Kantara. “Getting to know the owners has been an honor and an opportunity to work together to help improve quality of life for many who need it but can’t afford the more complex clinics.”
Dr. Vega was raised by his parents, Lisa and Jack Vega, who taught him the value of hard work and respect. His father proudly served 30 years in the military and instilled in him his core values that he carries with him today. Growing up, his mother always worked two jobs to which he owes his work ethic and perseverance. When he was younger his parents always stressed the importance of a good education and it was for that reason they moved from Austin to Georgetown, Texas.
After graduating from Georgetown High School, Dr. Vega began his undergraduate studies at The University of Texas – San Antonio. He received a bachelors of science in kinesiology with a focus in exercise science in 2013. During his undergraduate studies he also received a license in personal training through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and began training clients part time. Personal training not only allowed him to practice what he had learned at UTSA but further sparked his interest in the human body. Although he was helping people reach their goals through fitness, Dr. Vega quickly realized that it was only part of the equation. He wanted to be able to help those who were in pain and could no longer do the things that they once enjoyed.
In 2014 Dr. Vega began working at a chiropractic office guiding patients through their rehab exercises. As he began listening to patient’s stories and seeing them walk in with pain and leave with relief, he knew the chiropractic profession was for him. After 3 years at the clinic he left to pursue his doctor of chiropractic from Texas Chiropractic College (TCC). During his schooling, he was vice president of his class as well as the Student Texas Chiropractic Association which worked closely with the TCA to fight for the rights of his future profession.
Dr. Vega recently graduated from TCC in 2020 and is now practicing full time at the Cross Creek location. One of the best things about working at The Joint is how affordable it is for the patients. This takes the financial stress out of the equation and allows the patient and doctor to focus on what is really important, the patients health. When Dr. Vega is not treating patients he enjoys playing golf, exercising at the gym or crossfit, and going on adventures with his two dogs, Winnie and Pippa, and his wife, Jessica.
