Dr. John McDonald D.C., was born and raised in Roscoe, Illinois. He did his undergraduate studies at Rock Valley College and University of Iowa. He attended Palmer College of Chiropractic and graduated in 1985 with his Chiropractic degree as well as a degree in sports Chiropractic.
Upon receiving his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, Dr. John McDonald, started practicing family chiropractic in Rockton, Illinois for his Brother-in- law. He then went on to open his own practice in Loves Park, Illinois 1 year later. Dr. McDonald moved to Arizona in 2011 and began practicing Chiropractic in Chandler. In 2015 he started working for The Joint in Scottsdale and then later in Queen Creek. One thing he learned is to serve all types of people and cases, including migraine relief, sciatica pain, neck pain, and lower back pain through the use of manual manipulation. He has been involved in family chiropractic for more than 30 years. He later opened his own Joint in July of 2018 in Casa Grande.
Dr. McDonald says the best thing about being a chiropractor is being able to help others with relief and wellness.
Dr. McDonald lives in Chandler with his fiancé Erin and her son Dylan. He has a daughter Demi and grandson Brooks who live in Alabama. In his spare time, he enjoys tennis, golf, pickle ball and spending time with his family at home.

The one thing in Dr. McDonald’s refrigerator that he can’t do without is blueberries for his breakfast. He also has a basenji chihuahua named Callie.
Dr. Jason Reed D.C., was born and raised in Glencoe, Minnesota. He did his undergraduate studies at Minnesota State University-Mankato. He attended Northwestern Health Sciences University and received his degree in chiropractic with a sports emphasis in 2019. He also studied exercise physiology.
Upon receiving his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, Dr. Jason Reed, began relocating to Tucson, Arizona. He then went on to practice family chiropractic for The Joint Casa Grande in July of 2019. He has personal experience with posture correction, scoliosis, concussions, and athletic injuries. He interned at The Human Performance Center while in school, working with all athletes including Football, Rugby, and Soccer, as well as the NFL Alumni association.
Dr. Reed says the best thing about being a chiropractor is being able to treat any and all patients naturally to improve overall health and wellness. Some things he can treat are headaches/migraines, osteoarthritis and pain relief for muscles, joints, bones, and connective tissues such as cartilage, ligaments, and tendons.
Dr. Reed lives in Oro Valley with his wife Mallory and Shih Tzu/ Dachshund names Ruka. In his free time, he enjoys golf, CrossFit, walks with family, watching Ohio State Football and Mexican Food.
In Case You Didn’t Know
The one thing in Dr. Reed’s refrigerator that he can’t do without is Fairlife Chocolate milk. One of his favorite memories is his wedding in San Francisco at the historic City Hall.
Dr. Valerie Tolen, D.C. was born and raised in Gibraltar, MI and first became inspired by chiropractic after serving in the U.S. Air Force. She enlisted at the age of 17 and had the good fortune to not only save lives, but also travel the world working in the medical field. When she left the Air Force, Dr. Tolen attended Cleveland Chiropractic College. While she was working towards her Doctor of Chiropractic degree, Dr. Tolen also received several awards for service and outstanding achievement in research and scholarship.
Dr. Tolen has been practicing chiropractic since 2012 and considers herself to be a holistic practitioner. She is knowledgeable on the many benefits of manual medicine for overall health and wellness, as well as many specific techniques such as Gonstead, Graston, Flexion/Distraction, Thompson, Prenatal, Pediatric, and animals.
Over the course of her career, Dr. Tolen has also had the opportunity to work with a breadth of patients ranging from infants to athletes and Air Forceman, and has learned to treat a range of cases including sciatica pain, neck pain, lower and upper back pain, arthritis pain, and migraines.
Dr. Tolen enjoys reading and educating her Tucson community as well as her Casa Grande Community.
