Chiropractic For Athletes
Most of us have eagerly watched the athletes of either the summer or winter Olympics at some point in our lives. But have you heard of the third largest international sporting competition in the world, the Maccabiah Games? The Games will take place in Israel in July, and will host over 7000 Jewish athletes in 35 different sporting competitions, reigning from at least 60 different countries. And for the first time, chiropractors will be on hand to treat athletes and help them go for gold.
Chiropractic Care and Movement
These two go hand in hand. Chiropractic care is focused on the proper alignment of the spine, and therefore the nervous system. The nervous system is run by the brain, which communicates with every muscle, organ, and tissue in your body. If there is a “kink” in the nervous system, caused by spinal or joint misalignment, the brain and muscles are not able to “talk” properly and function at optimum levels. Chiropractors find the source of subluxation (misalignment) and correct it using tried-and-true manipulation techniques that are completely non-invasive. This frees up the body to do what it does best – move and move well. For athletes, this is an all-important piece of the winner’s pie.
Expanding Chiropractic
The chiropractors at the Maccabiah Games will also be spreading the word about opening the Israel Chiropractic College. They hope to promote it by showcasing chiropractic’s effectiveness and results-driven means of care. One of these chiropractors, Dr. Jeffrey Lewin, put it best here:
“The games of the 19th Maccabiah will provide an incredible opportunity to provide chiropractic care to athletes from all over the world. For many, this may be the first time they have been able to experience the benefits of chiropractic care or even heard of what a chiropractor is! It is an honor to serve our profession in such a pure and passionate way.”
This passion for chiropractic and its potential for real results is something shared across the board in the profession. Wellness and health are the goals. Chiropractic is a means to achieve them.
